Coca Cola launches soda bottle made entirely out of ICE that melts as you drink it

Coca Cola has released a new bottle made entirely of ice.
Currently only available in Colombia, the design is being marketed as eco friendly since it melts after the coke is consumed, meaning there is nothing left to throw away or recycle.
A Spanish advertisement for Botello de Hielo (bottle of ice) shows beach-goers enjoying the ice cold beverages on a hot day, and then letting their bottles melt away in the sand.

While they are being marketed as eco-friendly, some have expressed their concern that the bottles are unsanitary, since ice absorbs the dirt and germs from its surrounding
s

The bottles are wrapped around the middle with red rubber labels in order to prevent frozen fingers. Once the bottle disappears, the labels double as snap bracelets.
To create the bottles, the company fills silicone molds with water, freezes them at -13 degrees Fahrenheit and then fills the ice bottle shapes with Coke.
Each of them is then etched with the Coca Cola logo, and the red band is added.
Some Coke drinkers who prefer to savor the taste have shared their worry that the short-lived bottles put a time limit on drinking it up

According to the soda brand's website, the bottles have been a hit in beachy Colombia, where vendors are selling an average of 265 an hour.
But while they are being marketed as eco-friendly, some have expressed their concern that the bottles aren't cost effective to produce, since it most likely requires extra energy to keep the bottles frozen during distribution.
What's more, Food Beast has claimed that the bottles are unsanitary, since ice absorbs the dirt and germs from its surroundings.
And other Coke drinkers who prefer to savor the taste have shared their worry that the short-lived bottles put a time limit on drinking it up.
There are, as of yet, not plans to bring the ice bottle to the U.S. or other countries.
Coca Cola isn't the first soda brand to involve ice in its innovative marketing strategy.
To create the bottles, the company fills silicone molds with water, freezes them at -13 degrees Fahrenheit and then fills the molds with Coke. Each of them is then etched with the Coca Cola logo

In April, 7Up set up a vending machine in the streets of Buenos Aeries, Argentina, called the Melting Machine.
The machine, made an entirely of ice, melted as passers-by grabbed cans of the beverage.
People were also invited to guess the exact time the last can would be taken from the icy machine.

Five Indonesian hunters rescued after 5 days trapped in tree by Sumatran tigers

Last week Thursday, Six men, all from Simpang Kiri village in Aceh Tamiang district, had ventured into the national park in search of rare incense wood.
The group set up deer traps for food, but accidentally caught a tiger cub.
The injured animal drew nearby tigers who then pounced on the men and killed a 28-year-old only identified as David,  while the others managed to flee up some branches.
The smallest of all tigers, Sumatran tigers are a critically endangered species only found on the Indonesian island.
The tigers, numbering up to 10,  trapped the five Indonesian men up the tree in a national park on Sumatra island, after mauling a sixth person to death.
The survivors alerted nearby villagers using mobile phones reported the BBC.
It took rescue crews up to three days before they found the men in the Gunung Leuser jungle, officials said.
The national park covers nearly 7,930 sq km (3,060 sq miles) along the border of North Sumatra and Aceh provinces.
They are trapped up a tree in Gunung Leuser National Park, north Sumatra, Indonesia
A 30-member search team entered the jungle on Saturday, police chief Dicky Sondani said.
During the long days and nights they had been trapped there, the tigers, which had already killed and eaten a sixth member of their group, prowled around the base of the tree waiting for a chance to grab one or more of the men.
While tigers can climb trees, it is believed the terrified men, from a village in Aceh province on the island of Sumatra, had lodged themselves onto slender branches that would not have borne the wait of a tiger.
But as the hours and the days went by they became weak from hunger and lack of sleep, each of them fearing they would fall and become another victim of the tigers.
The five were dehydrated, hungry and terrified following their ordeal.
The men, from Simpang Kiri village in Aceh, northern Sumatra, had gone into the dense forest in search of agar wood, which is very rare, expensive and used in the production of incense and aromatic oils.
Just 1lb of agar wood can fetch up to £175, resulting in villagers risking their lives to enter the jungles of the Gunung Leuser National Park where tigers and dangerous elephants roam.

When contacted,  Police Chief Dicky Sondani explained why officers had been powerless to intervene.
'We can't go rushing in to rescue the men in the tree because of the remoteness and because of the tigers still being there at the base of the tree,' he said.
He told the Jakarta Globe that villagers enter the jungle to look for the pricey wood but they were risking their lives doing so.
Resident of Simpang Kiri village learned of the men's fate because not only were they carrying mobile phones, they had also managed to get a signal, enabling them to call for help reported DAILY MAIL.
But as rescuers from the village neared the tree they saw David's partially eaten remains and four large tigers - and fled.
But police said they had little choice but to plan the rescue carefully and that would take some time. The tigers would have to be shot with anaesthetising darts due to their endangered numbers.
Conservationists said they had no doubt that the tigers chased the men seeking revenge for killing the cub.
More than 100 Sumatran tigers are believed to roam the forests of the Gunung Leuser National Park.
But there are fears their numbers will dramatically drop as the rainforest shrinks and palm oil plantations take their place. Looking for food, tigers are more frequently entering villages and there have been a number of attacks on humans.
After five days on the tree, and exactly 2 days after the failed rescue attempt by the villagers, the police contacted local tamers who succeed in rescuing the men from the tigers. "The rescue team stood back while the tamers approached the animals and chanted some mantras," district police chief Dicky Sondani told AFP.
The local tames,  uttering a special chant succeeded in calming the group of snarling tigers that had chased the five men up the tree, leaving them trapped there for nearly five days.
As the tamers uttered thier mantra - a mind-calming chant that originates in ancient India - the tigers turned tail and slipped back into the Indonesian jungle, allowing the desperate men to come down from their precarious perch in the branches.

By the time the rescuers arrived, the men "were very scared. They were also dehydrated and felt faint from not eating".
They survived by drinking rainwater, reported the Telegraph
The men were rescued on Sunday.

Woman who hid gun in vagina bags 25 yrs in prison

Christie Dawn Harris

The Oklahoma woman who had a loaded handgun concealed in her vagina when she was arrested earlier this year on a drug charge has been sentenced to 25 years in state prison, according to court records.
Christie Dawn Harris, 28, last week entered no contest pleas to three felony counts during a hearing in Pontotoc County District Court. Harris, whose rap.
sheet already includes multiplefelony convictions, copped on June 27 to possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, gun possession, and bringing contraband into jail.

Judge Steven Kessinger sentenced Harris to serve 25 years on each count, with the penalties to run concurrently. He also ordered her to pay $1363 in court costs and fees.
Harris, seen in the adjacent mug shot, was arrested in March after a drug dog alerted to a vehicle in which she and another woman were seated (the car was parked outside a closed restaurant at 3:45 AM). A subsequent search of the Toyota Yaris turned up meth, drug paraphernalia, a .25 caliber semi-automatic pistol, and a loaded magazine.
While being transported to jail, Harris told a cop “several times that she needed to go to the bathroom,” according to an Ada Police Department report.
During processing at the jail, Harris balked when directed to lower her underwear so that a female officer could check for contraband. She “advised that she was on her period and did not want to,” cops noted.
After Harris complied with police, Officer Kathy Unbewust reported, “I observed at that time a wooden and metal item sticking out from her vagina area.” Unbewust then “pulled the item from her vagina, and found it to be a 5 shot revolver with rounds in the chamber.”
The handgun, which was disassembled by cops, is seen in the above left evidence photo.
Investigators subsequently identified the weapon as a Freedom Arms .22-caliber handgun, which was loaded with three live rounds and one spent shell. The police report notes that “gun located in suspect vagina.”

How 'Bishop' allegedly raped 15-yr-old church member inside church premises in Portharcourt, Nigeria

A cleric that described himself as the  chairman of bishops in Rivers State, Bishop Chibuike Nwabueze, has been arrested for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl and sponsoring the abortion of the baby.
The incident was said to have occurred at about 2p.m on April 29,  at Calvary Army Ministry in Rumuoji Eneka, in Obio/Akpor Local Goverment Area of the state.
The cleric allegedly admitted that he had a carnal knowledge of the victim (name withheld), but attributed the crime to a set-up by his enemies.
The  ‘man of God’ himself told the story before journalists at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
He blamed it on the devil and also accused his host as the one who set him up. According to the cleric, after he finished ministering, he retired to rest. The girl later came for deliverance.
He said that while he was pleading the blood of Jesus on the little girl, she started removing her dress. Before he could restrain her, he said he found himself on top of her.
“But to my greatest surprise, I was surprised when I saw her pulling off her blouse and skirt. But, before I knew it, I had a carnal knowledge of her. That is the truth of the matter.”
His head suddenly dropped after the confession, then went up again; this time he said anybody could have fallen for it.
According to him, when he realised he had sinned against God, he called some junior pastors to tell them what he had done to pray for him.
Nwabueze said he took a second look at the little girl who probably was still lying nude and waiting for a second round and what he saw pissed him off.
“She started laughing at me. She said ‘are you angry?’ I told her that I did not know she had hypnotised me. She said I should not bother,” the bishop said.
“I was so angry and annoyed that I called some of my pastors and made a confession, that I did not know what was happening.”
Nwabueze said it was not true that he raped the girl, stressing that it was a consensual act. He also dismissed the  allegation that he later procured abortion for the girl when the father called to inform him that she was pregnant.  According to him, it was the girl’s father that did it but he paid the bills.
The bishop maintained that the pastor of the church where he went to preach set him up and he fell for it.
“We have different Colleges of Bishops. I am the Chairman of  the Communion of Bishops in Rivers State. Well, what actually happened was a set up. It was set-up by my enemies. I have so many people who are my enemies. The man in-charge of where I went to minister is my enemy. He is the person that set me up,” he stated.
“He invited me to his church for a programme, claiming  to be my friend. After the programme, he set me up because of  the tussle over the chairmanship of the communion.”
Meanwhile, the police have advised Christians to be vigilant and ask the right questions sometimes on the actions of some pastors. This way the police said, Christians could different between true and fake pastors.
Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of  Rivers SCID, Mr Samuel Okaula, who paraded the bishop and a male nurse who allegedly facilitated the abortion, also said people should be conscious of worship centres. He said Nwabueze would be arraigned before the court to serve as a deterrent.
Reacting to the development, Executive Director, Institute of Human rights and Humanitarian Law, IHRHL, Mr Ayankwee Nsirimovu, described the action of the bishop as unfortunate as  it was done by one in a position of spiritual trust.  He said the incident was one case out of  the experiences of under aged girls, married and single women in the offices of  randy bishops and clergy men.

Facebook launches search tool that scans billions of profiles to find everything from your favourite films to your embarrassing photos

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced Graph Search at Facebook headquarters in Menlo Park in January. He said at the time the tool was not a web search and is not an attempt to take on Google. He added that only publicly shared information and information shared with friends is scanned and used for the results

Facebook has begun rolling out its Graph Search to English-speaking users, enabling them to find out specific details about their friends.
Previously Facebook users could only search for brands or friends by name and location; Graph Search lets users find specific information including their friends' favourite films, restaurants, likes and dislikes, work and education history and more, using filters.
For example, users can search for friends in London who are vegetarians, friends of friends who like yoga, or photos of a boyfriend from a certain month or year.
The tool was launched in January to a select number of beta users and engineers.
After months of refining and tweaking, it is now being launched to every Facebook user whose language is set to U.S. English.
Facebook has begun rolling out its Graph Search, pictured, which lets users find specific information about their friends using filters. Users can search for people who like cycling and are from London, for example, friends of friends who like yoga, or photos of friends or boyfriends from a certain month or year
Unlike searches on Google, which are good for finding specific things like roasted kale recipes or Mizuno running shoes, Facebook's tool is most useful in unearthing information about your social circles.
It can help users discover new music or films, or get restaurant recommendations from friends who have been there.
Facebook claims that Graph Search is a better way to find out which of your friends have common interests.
The tool uses ‘intelligent’ interpretation to allow you to find friends by interest, for example Facebook suggests typing in text such as 'Friends who like Star Wars and Harry Potter' when planning a film night.
Yet it could also be used in the future by advertisers and marketers to learn more about you and target users with more personalised adverts.

One of the Facebook search result pages, showing friends who have interests in common. This search in particular looked for friends 'who like the things I like'. The data it used for this search was based on pages and activities that friends had 'Liked' on Facebook
In recent months Facebook has been encouraging people to enter more information about themselves on their profiles, including work and education history, family information and so on.
Graph Search uses any of this information about you that you have shared publicly - plus any pages that you've liked - including relationship statuses, addresses, phone numbers and check-ins.
This includes data shared with friends and friends of friends.
However, any information that is set as private, or has been shared with only a select group of people, will not be used to populate the graphs.

As well as information about a friend's location, likes and favourite films, Graph Search can be used to find photos from a particular time. This makes it easier for users to discover embarrassing baby photos, or photos from university, for example. This image shows photos of friends from before 1999
Speaking at the launch in January, Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg said it is 'not web search’ - but the firm has partnered with Microsoft's Bing search engine in a snub to Google, which has its own social network, Google+.
Soon after Facebook launched the tool a number of joke blogs were set up looking at the less innocuous and more embarrassing queries.
For example, with Graph Search you can find out which brand of condoms your friends prefer.
A blog called actualfacebookgraphsearches.tumblr.com posted a collection of searches ranging from 'married people who like prostitutes' to 'current employers of people who like racism.'
Both yielded more than 100 results.
The blog was created to highlight how much personal information people share online.
Facebook plans to notify users that it's 'getting easier for people to find photos and other things you've shared with them' along with a reminder that they can check 'who can see my stuff' under their privacy settings.
'The goal is to avoid bad surprises,' said Nicky Jackson Colaco, privacy and safety manager at Facebook.
But she stressed Facebook's view that the search tool 'indexes information differently than we have ever been able to do before, in a really positive way.'
It's easier, for example, to find a long-lost classmate with a common name, or to find common interests with friends of friends.
Facebook does not currently show users ads based on what they are searching for but the company may do in the future.
Research firm eMarketer estimates that Google will take nearly 42 percent of all U.S. digital ad spending this year, well above Facebook's share of less than 7 percent.
With its new search tool, Facebook is clearly trying to divert traffic and ad spending from its rival. Whether this will work will become more clear as more people begin using it.

425-pound gangster, sentenced to 32 months in prison for grabbing and 'sniffing' boy

Victor Joseph Espinoza

Victor Joseph Espinoza, a Santa Ana, Calif., man with ties to Mexican gangs, received a 32-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to false imprisonment charges stemming from his attempted kidnapping of a 10-year-old boy in October 2012.
CBS Los Angeles reports that charges of street terrorism and a sentencing enhancement for gang activity were dropped in exchange for Espinoza's guilty plea.
According to LAist, Espinoza approached his victim, who was on his way to soccer practice, and asked the boy if he'd liked to see his gang tattoo.
Witnesses claim Espinoza then grabbed his victim and sniffed his arm, but that the boy managed to break free and run away. The boy's soccer coach later confronted Espinoza, tackled him and tried to restrain him.
"The little boy came crying at me, saying that man wanted to take him. He said that he grabbed him and he started smelling him," the coach, who wished to remain anonymous, told ABC Los Angeles at the time.
The 425-pound suspect made news in October after his distinctive mugshot went viral. Santa Ana police also released infrared video of Espinoza hiding in a yardmoments before his arrest.
Although the details of the attempted kidnapping skew bizarre, police did not take any chances in pursuing Espinoza.
Santa Ana police spokesman Antony Bertanga described the suspect to ABC News as an "old school, old time gangster" with more than 60 prior arrests over 30 years, and a rap sheet that includes drug possession, assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder.

Man awarded $58 million for skull, brain damage suffered in California bar beating

Antonio Lopez Chaj, a 43-year-old house painter, appears with his attorneys at a news conference in Los Angeles Monday, July 1, 2013. Lopez Chaj is so badly brain damaged for a beating in a bar that left him with half his skull permanently bashed in that he cannot speak. His lawyers announced he has been awarded a $58 million by a jury in Torrance Superior Court.

A 43-year-old house painter so badly brain damaged that he can't speak has been awarded $58 million by a jury after a beating at a bar left him with half his skull permanently bashed in.
Antonio Lopez Chaj (chy) appeared at a news conference Monday with lawyers who announced the award handed down against a security company Friday in Torrance Superior Court.
It was among the largest damage awards ever given to one person in California, the lawyers said. They said they expect an appeal and there could be settlement negotiations before Chaj receives anything.
Chaj had to be supported by relatives at the news conference. When he took off a baseball cap hiding his injuries, gasps could be heard from people present.
"His skull is like a pie with 25 percent cut out of it," said attorney Federico Sayre.
Chaj was attacked at a mid-Wilshire bar after trying to intercede in an attack by a bartender and security guard on two relatives who were with him.
Lawyers said an unlicensed, untrained security guard beat Chaj with a baton, kicked him in the head eight times and smashed his skull against pavement four times.
"It was truly a horrendous and brutal beating by a guy who shouldn't have been working at all," said Sayre, who represented Chaj along with Fernando Chavez, the son of famed civil rights leader Cesar Chavez.
The security guard, Emerson Quintanilla, and the bartender-manager who sparked the attack have disappeared without a trace, Sayre said.
"I think the man went crazy, lost his mind," he said of Quintanilla. "It was a species of road rage."
Sayre said the confrontation begin April 20, 2010 when Chaj, his brother and two nephews, who all worked as house painters, went to Barra Latina, a neighborhood bar.
One of the relatives got into a dispute with the bartender-manager who came after him with brass knuckles, Sayre said. Quintanilla, who was working for DGSP Security and Patrol Services, began kicking and beating members of the group.
Chaj tried to intervene and said, "Stop beating my nephews." At that point, Sayre said, the guard beat Chaj into unconsciousness. Part of his skull was gone when he reached the hospital.
"They saved his life but he has significant brain damage," Sayre said. "He can't speak and he requires 24-hour nursing care."
He said Chaj faces more surgeries.
Phone messages seeking comment left with attorneys for the defendants were not immediately returned.
In civil courts, only nine of the 12 jurors have to agree on a verdict, Sayre said. But this jury was unanimous in finding for the plaintiffs on all claims, and it granted the $58 million award the plaintiffs requested.

Teenager beats world's tech giants to launch first smart WATCH that makes calls and comes with a built-in camera

Chief Marketing Officer for Androidly, Siddhant Vats, pictured, is just 17 years old. The other designers are all aged 24

A group of college students from India - including a designer who is just 17 years old - has beaten the likes of Apple, Google and Sony to launch the world's first fully-featured smartwatch.
Called Androidly, the device comes with Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi and a camera built-in.
The £150 watch can also be used as a phone to make calls and send texts using a phone SIM card and packs up to 16GB of storage.
Although other smart watches, including the Pebble and Sony's Live Watch, can wirelessly connect with mobile phones, Androidly is the first to come with the operating system fully integrated.

College students from India have launched the first fully-featured Android smart watch with built-in Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi and a camera. The Androidly device can also be used to make calls and send texts and costs £150
It runs on an older version of the Android operating system called Android 2.2 Froyo.
A speaker, camera and microphone are built into the device and it can be plugged into a USB socket to be used as a storage device.
It can also be used to charge the phone.
Androidly is the brainchild of four students from India - software developer Ankit Pradhan, communications professional Pavneet Singh Puri and lawyer Apurva Sukant plus teenager Siddhant Vats.
Sukant said: 'There are other such products in the market, but they mostly sync with a smartphone and are not phones in themselves.
'We have ported Android on to a much smaller board and built a wearable phone.'
Puri added: 'We have all been friends for years now.

'I was a member of my college student council then and was getting a lot of calls regarding the college festival.
'That day, my phone rang at a time when my hands were dripping with chicken curry and I just couldn't retrieve it from my pocket.'
'Later, over dessert, we discussed the episode and figured that things can be made much easier if the device is always within reach, accessible and visible.
'Making it a wristwatch seemed to be the most practical solution',  continued Vats.
The Androidly watch was originally a Kickstarter campaign - a fundraising and investment site.
The devices can now be ordered, in black or white, from the Android.ly site for £150 each.
The £90 Pebble watch was the first device to be classed as a 'smartwatch' and similarly launched following a successful Kickstarter campaign earlier this year.
The Pebble smartwatch syncs wirelessly with a smartphone allowing users to receive emails and Facebook messages, control their music and even see who is calling them.
Users can also downloads apps to their watch to upgrade its capabilities.
It works by connecting to an iPhone or Android device via Bluetooth, then downloading the Pebble app to transmit software updates.
Apple is also rumoured to be developing a smartwatch, although the firm has refused to comment on the plans.
Google is also known to be investigating the area.
Explaining the potential of Androidly, the site explains: 'Multi-task like a super hero. Reach out for that refreshing drink in middle of an email, with full confidence.
'Read through your documents, with references on your wrist and a coffee in your hand!
'Cook with the recipe handy, or manage your stocks with a live ticker always at hand.
'Switch between the digital and the real world effortlessly, without putting anything up or down!'
