American fraudster bags 6months in jail for stealing $3,796 by pretending to have cancer online
A New Hampshire man pled guilty Tuesday to stealing approximately $3,796 from online donors by claiming to have cancer when he didn't.
MyFoxBoston.com reports Logan Henry created a "Help Logan Henry" page on gofundme.com, saying he needed money for cancer treatment. He collected over $3,000 from thousands of online donors.
His scheme was thwarted when his former employer discovered the page. The employer called police and said Henry was out of work because of a shoulder injury, not because he had cancer.
Henry was given a six-month deferred sentence and ordered to repay the money and a $500 fine.
