Online Media Practitioners
Association of Nigeria (OMPAN) has been invited to attend this year’s Diaspora
Day slated for Friday the 27th of April, 2018 in Beijing, China.
Themed ‘Role of the Diaspora in
National Development and Bilateral Relationship’ the event is being hosted by Baba
Ahmad Jidda, Nigerian Ambassador in China and is aimed at uniting Nigerians in
the diaspora.
In a statement signed by
Ismaila Yahaya Kana, OMPAN National PRO, the body wishes to state that for the
sake of Nigeria; for the sake of bilateral relationship and mutual
international development, it would honour the invitation as it’s delegation
would be led by the National President, Mr Emeh James Anyalekwa.
According to OMPAN, this invitation no doubt is a testimonial to
the growing influence of the online media in shaping opinions by opening up new
channels for information dissemination and also affording Nigerians additional
platforms for a robust national discursion.
“Let it be on record from this
moment on that OMPAN has come to stay and in addition to regulating the online
conduct of Online Media Practitioners, it is willing to partner any/all
institution(s) both here in Nigeria and in the diaspora that wishes to engender
the functional development of Nigeria, Africa and the world at large.” The PRO
stated.
Special guests expected at the event include former Abia State
Governor, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, Senior Adviser to the Nigerian President On
Diaspora and Foreign Affairs, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa and Chairman House
Committee on Diaspora and Foreign Affairs, Barr. Hon. Rita Orji.
