OMPAN gets invitation to attend Diaspora Day in Beijing



Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN) has been invited to attend this year’s Diaspora Day slated for Friday the 27th of April, 2018 in Beijing, China.
Themed ‘Role of the Diaspora in National Development and Bilateral Relationship’ the event is being hosted by Baba Ahmad Jidda, Nigerian Ambassador in China and is aimed at uniting Nigerians in the diaspora.
In a statement signed by Ismaila Yahaya Kana, OMPAN National PRO, the body wishes to state that for the sake of Nigeria; for the sake of bilateral relationship and mutual international development, it would honour the invitation as it’s delegation would be led by the National President, Mr Emeh James Anyalekwa.
According to OMPAN, this invitation no doubt is a testimonial to the growing influence of the online media in shaping opinions by opening up new channels for information dissemination and also affording Nigerians additional platforms for a robust national discursion.
“Let it be on record from this moment on that OMPAN has come to stay and in addition to regulating the online conduct of Online Media Practitioners, it is willing to partner any/all institution(s) both here in Nigeria and in the diaspora that wishes to engender the functional development of Nigeria, Africa and the world at large.” The PRO stated.
Special guests expected at the event include former Abia State Governor, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, Senior Adviser to the Nigerian President On Diaspora and Foreign Affairs, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa and Chairman House Committee on Diaspora and Foreign Affairs, Barr. Hon. Rita Orji.
