A frontline politician in Imo state, Barrister Chima Anozie,
has offered the sum of N50 million naira as a gesture of support to any
governorship aspirant from Owerri zone who wins the forth-coming APC
governorship primary election on merit. In addition, he said he will brand a
total of 21 buses to be used by the candidate for his election campaign.
He made this disclosure during an interactive session
with some online media practitioners in Oweri last Thursday. According to him,
“it is injustice not to support an Owerri man to emerge as the next governor of
Imo state. If I am convinced by the entire Owerri zone that some other aspirant
is better than me, I will support the aspirant with 50 million naira and brand 21
buses for him to use for his election campaign”.
Speaking during the session, Anozie who is contesting
for the governorship of Imo state under the platform of the All Progressives
Congress (APC), decried the state of infrastructure in Imo especially in the
rural areas. He said if the roads in those areas are put in good condition, it will
help decongest the state capital because many people who are presently living
in the municipal will gladly relocate to the rural areas which are less than15
minutes drive from the township.
Speaking further, he said the agricultural potentials of
Imo state has not been fully harnessed, adding that he will ensure that rice is
produced at Ishinweke in Ihitte-Uboma and in Ngor-Okpala and commence a project
called ‘Operation Feed Your Family’. Anozie said he will ensure that the
youths learn a trade while bursary will be paid the intelligent and hardworking
students in the institutions of learning. According to him, he will revive and
equip the Government Technical College (GTC) Owerri and make it productive.
Speaking further,
he said he will roll out a special housing scheme whereby the state government
will build houses for civil servants and deduct 10% of their salaries every
month until the monetary value of the houses are fully paid.
Speaking further, Anozie said he will not commence any
new project when he becomes governor until all the abandoned and viable projects
initiated by his predecessors are complete, adding that he will probe any
government official who borrowed money on behalf of Imo state to do a non-existent
project. He vowed to tackle corruption, consumption of illicit drugs and
cultism.
Anozie who is fondly called ‘Home Base’ by his
supporters, hails from Orji in Uratta, Owerri-North LGA of Imo state. He read
Civil Engineering at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu
after which he read Law at the University of Nigeria Enugu Campus (UNEC). He later
read Estate Management at Imo State University (IMSU), Owerri. He was the
General Manager of Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA). In 2003, he
