A third division football club from Egypt has completed
the signing of a 75-year-old, making him the oldest player to register as a
footballer.
Ezz El-Din Bahader has signed for a club called ‘6th October’ and will become the oldest professional ever – should he take to the pitch.
Ezz al-Din Bahader has signed a contract with an Egyptian third division side and will become a world-record holder if he takes to the field in two competitive games to break the current record.
Judging by his ability and fitness level already displayed, he looks well-equipped for the challenge.
Despite being a pensioner, he looks incredibly sharp.
The current holder of the record is Itzhak Hayk, who was two weeks away from turning 74 at the time.
Hayk, Iraqi-born but made in Israel after moving in 1950, played in between the sticks in the fifth tier of Israeli football against Ramat Israel in a game his side lost 4-1.
