Court jails landlord for having sex with tenant in lieu of rent
John Tatton
A landlord who forced a teenage girl to "pay" for her rent with sexual favours has been jailed for four years.
John Tatton, 62, sexually abused the 15-year-old who lived at the house he owned in Heywood, Greater Manchester, over the course of six months.
At Bolton Crown Court he was convicted of five offences of sexual activity with a child and one of sexual assault.
Police said his victim was also abused by men convicted of running a child sexual exploitation ring in Rochdale.
The group of nine men, from Rochdale and Oldham, exploited girls as young as 13 and were given sentences ranging from four to 19 years at Liverpool Crown Court last May.
Tatton, formerly of Rochdale but now of Hanley in Stoke-on-Trent, was jailed after a five-day trial and also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life.
Greater Manchester Police said the teenager had become friends with a group of girls who had chaotic lifestyles involving alcohol, drugs and eventual sexual exploitation.
She moved into the house in Heywood with a number of these girls, and that is when Tatton told her she could not live rent-free and must pay for her stay with sexual favours.
Police said she had been reluctant but was coerced by Tatton.
Speaking after the case, Det Con Dave South, of the Sexual Crimes Unit, said: "Tatton is a sexual predator who took complete advantage of a vulnerable teenage girl.
"He subjected her to a campaign of abuse over a six-month period, during which she was forced to submit to him to 'pay' for her rent.
"Tatton is clearly a danger to young people and I hope today's sentence provides a level of reassurance to his victim."

20 prisoners escape from Sagamu prisons in Nigeria
An early morning jail break in Sagamu, Ogun state on friday led to the escape of 20 inmates of the prison. During the melee that trailed the jailbreak, many of the inmates as well as prison officials were seriously injured. Many inmates were killed during the jailbreak which caught the authorities unaware.
During the revolt, many dangerous weapons including missiles were freely used prompting the authorities to draft in members of the armed squad to quel the riot. A large hole was dug on the prison wall through which they escaped after a stimulated revolt by the prisoners. As a result of the development, many of the prison officials who were suspected to have connived with some inmates were already being interrogated by the police.
The Controller General of the Nigeria Prisons Service, Mr. Zakari Ohinoyi Ibrahim, who confirmed the jailbreak after an unscheduled visit, told journalists that four of the runaway prisoners had been re-arrested and brought back to the prison. He also disclosed that an investigation team had been constituted to ascertain the remote causes of the jailbreak.
His words: “The essence of the visit is a follow-up to the seriousness we attach to the issue of security because security is one of our major mandates in the prisons and this administration has said it over and over again that we would not tolerate any breach of security, especially when it points at any form of negligence. “If it goes beyond administrative negligence with criminality, we’ll bring in the police and other sister agencies responsible so that we prove that we’ll not tolerate any lack of commitment to job, especially the one that touches on security.
“So, we have some issues here and that’s why I’m here. The issue is that there have been some escapes here. So, I came personally and even before coming I’ve sent a high-powered team here and I’m following up to ensure that the right thing is done and that any staff found culpable would face the full wrath of the law which will include dismissal and prosecution. “What I can tell you now, because full investigation is on, is we have about 20 escapees and some of them have been arrested now and full investigation is on.
About four of them have been arrested. But what you must just go with now is that any staff that is found culpable would be dealt with accordingly.” He refused to confirm casualty figure, saying: “Don’t worry, I’ve told you investigation is on and you should also know that when there is an incident like this, there should be full investigation. Investigations are on. I’ve addressed the staff and I’ve told them we would not give room for half commitment. “The commitment has to be full, total and even with the situation we have in the country now, we would not want anybody who would unnecessarily want to embarrass us because if you are not ready, you move. There is no choice.
You either remain and go by the law and work hard with full commitment. We are fully committed to this job and we want to work as a team but if you want to distract us or bring things that would embarrass us, we’ll tell you to go. But it will be better for those who don’t want to stay to go than for us to push them out because we are serious. Security is not something that we’ll play with at all.” According to him, the launched investigations would assist the authorities to determine a lot of things.
“External influence? Investigations would prove that. In terms of the structure, you can see the wall is solid and on top we have fence wire. Everything is okay but we are talking about the human beings now, the human factor and I’m telling you that if investigation indicts any person that has not done his job the way he’s supposed to do it, it can lead to dismissal and even prosecution and the person may change uniform”, he stated.

Saudi Air force Sgt. jailed in the US for child rape
Mazen Alotaibi
A sergeant in Saudi Arabia's air force was jailed in Las Vegas on charges that he pulled a boy into a hotel room and sexually assaulted him the morning of Sin City's big New Year's Eve fireworks extravaganza.
Mazen Alotaibi, 23, faces charges including kidnapping, sexual assault with a minor and felony coercion that could get him decades in state prison, according to police and charging documents obtained Friday.
The boy, who is younger than 14, told police the man forced him into a room at the Circus Circus hotel on the Las Vegas Strip and raped him. Police arrested Alotaibi after being called to the hotel before 9:30 a.m. Dec. 31.
"There was a kidnapping and sexual assault with force," Las Vegas police Lt. Dan McGrath said. "The victim said he was forced into the room and sexually assaulted. We have a strong case based on the evidence."
The boy, who lives out of state, was staying at the hotel with his family, McGrath said. He was taken to a hospital for medical treatment and evidence collection and released later to family members. His name was not made public.
McGrath said Alotaibi produced a Saudi Arabian military identification and said he was stationed at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland near San Antonio, Texas. U.S. federal authorities and Saudi military officials were notified, the police lieutenant said.
Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland spokesman Brent Boller told The Associated Press that records showed Alotaibi is currently stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Miss. Boller said he could not immediately verify if Alotaibi had been at Lackland, but noted that international military students attend a Defense Language Institute English Language Center on the base to improve their English-language skills.
Alotaibi's lawyer, Don Chairez of Newport Beach, Calif., said Friday he had been in contact with U.S. military authorities at both air force bases and with the Saudi government. He said Alotaibi had come to Las Vegas for the New Year's celebration and will plead not guilty.
Alotaibi also is charged with burglary, which in Nevada can stem from a person entering a building with intent to commit a felony.
The alleged attack took place on the sixth floor of a 15-story hotel tower. Circus Circus has a total of 3,767 guest rooms in three towers and five three-story motor lodge-style buildings dubbed Circus Circus Manor.
The arrest was first reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. It cited a police report saying the boy was 13.
Alotaibi was being held without bail at the Clark County jail pending an evidence hearing Jan. 17.

Man bags 15yrs in jail for infecting lover with HIV
Jimmy Billingsley
A Texas man who had unprotected sex multiple times with a woman, despite knowing that he carried HIV, received a 15-year prison sentence for infecting her with the disease.
Jimmy Billingsley, 42, a former youth football coach learned in 2008 that he tested positive for the virus that causes AIDS. Yet he didn't warn the woman who contracted HIV or any of his other sexual partners, according to his testimony, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.
“This defendant’s intentional non-disclosure to numerous sex partners was egregious, dangerous, willful and malicious,” said Tarrant County Assistant District Attorney Joshua Ross. "He truly is a snake in the grass. His sentence brings some justice to his known victim and provides a measure of protection for so many others.”
Billingsley met the woman in 2009 via her son, who played on the team he coached. They had sex several times and in late 2010, a routine health check revealed she had HIV, CBS' Dallas-Forth Worth station reported.
Immediately, she called police and said that Billingsley was the only man she'd been intimate with.
The woman said that Billingsley persuaded her to have unprotected sex.
"He would say, 'You'll be okay. I won't get you pregnant. I don't have anything. You don't have anything to worry about,'" she told WFAA.
She now takes a daily cocktail of medication to fight the disease. Her attitude was bleak when she received the news from the blood test.
"I just cried," she said. "I'm not going to live for a long time is what I thought."
State District Judge Robb Catalano imposed the sentence on Dec. 31, choosing from punishments that ranged from probation to 20 years behind bars.

Son kills dad, sets body ablaze after domestic quarrel
Baron Von Duke Vercruysse
A Florida man got into an argument with his father about cleaning his room, then murdered him, deputies tell Fox 13.
Pasco County deputies say Baron Von Duke Vercruysse, 23, fatally struck his father, 52-year-old Rene Vercruysse over the head at some point on New Year's Eve, ABC reported. Officials found the body after responding to a fire at the Vercruysse home at around 10:20 p.m.
Investigators believe that after killing his father, Baron Von Duke Vercruysse poured gasoline on the body and set it ablaze inside the master bedroom. According to Fox 13, firefighters were able to contain the flames to the bedroom.
A preliminary autopsy determined that the elder Vercruysse died of homicidal violence, not injuries sustained in the fire, according to Bay News 9.
Deputies claim Vercruysse admitted to the slaying. He's been charged with first-degree murder and arson.
According to his Facebook page, Baron Von Duke Vercruysse recently became a father.
"I'm going to be a daddy in the next few hours I'm so excited yayyyy," reads a post made in April. Facebook friend Justine Liddick commented, "i know you will make an amazing dad!"

American pilot catches thief at his home during fly-by
Haines
Pilot David Zehntner was flying his personal plane from North Carolina to his Florida home when he decided to fly over his house and saw something unusual.
“He observed a silver truck with white camper in his driveway and lowered his altitude to get a closer look,” the Charlotte County Sheriff’s office said in a news release. “He saw a man looking into the windows of his home then attach his red trailer and pull out of his driveway.”
Zehntner called the police and then began following the thief in his plane.
The runaway trailer was located by authorities who stopped the robber at a traffic stop. Gary Robert Haines, 59, of Stafford, Va., was arrested and charged with grand theft, police said. By then, Zehntner had landed his plane and came to the scene to get his trailer back.
Police found a loaded rifle and bullets inside of Haines’ pickup truck, the report said.
Haines was taken to Charlotte County jail and released on Monday on $2,500 bond. Authorities are still investigating the theft and the weapons that were found in the pickup.
Zehntner did not respond to request for comment.

Ivory Coast declares 3 day mourning for victims of Houphouet-Boigny stadium stampede
Three days of mourning have been declared in Ivory Coast following a New Year's Eve stampede that killed at least 61 people in Abidjan.
Hundreds of people leaving a fireworks event at a stadium in the Plateau district were jammed into a tiny street in the early hours of Tuesday: many were crushed; others suffocated.
An investigation is under way. Many victims were said to be 15 or younger.
President Alassane Ouattara described the deaths as a national tragedy.
Different theories are emerging as to what caused the stampede after the fireworks display ended in the 65,000-capacity Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium.
'Trampled with our children'
Some say a group of youths brandishing knives was snatching people's mobile phones, causing panic among the large crowd, says the BBC's West Africa correspondent Thomas Fessy.
But others say security forces acted ineptly as they tried to control the many thousands walking through the city centre - triggering the stampede which has left many more people injured, some critically.Desperate parents went to the city morgue, hospital and stadium to search for their children, AP news agency reports.
They included Mamadou Sanogo, who was looking for his nine-year-old son, Sayed, it adds.
"I have just seen all the bodies, but I cannot find my son. I don't know what to do," a tearful Mr Sanogo said.
A market vendor injured in the incident, Sanata Zoure, told Reuters news agency that revellers going home after watching the fireworks display were stopped by police near the stadium.
"We were walking with our children and we came upon barricades, and people started falling into each other. We were trampled with our children," she is quoted as saying.
Mr Ouattara visited some of the wounded who were taken to two hospitals in the country's main city and promised that the costs of their medical treatment would be covered by the government.
The fireworks event had been organised to celebrate the end of the conflict triggered by former President Laurent Gbagbo's refusal to recognise Mr Ouattara's victory in 2010 elections.
Mr Gbagbo is now facing trial on war crimes charge at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
The night before the tragedy, the stadium, named after Ivory Coast's founding president, hosted a concert by US performer Chris Brown.
In 2009, 19 football fans died during a crush at the same stadium before a World Cup qualifier against Malawi.

'Rape-provoking' miniskirts banned by Swazi police
Women in Swaziland risk arrest if they wear miniskirts or tops which expose part of their stomach as they will be violating moral standards, a police spokesperson has said."The act of a rapist is made easy, because it would be easy to remove the half-cloth worn by the women," Wendy Hleta was quoted as saying.
Offenders face a six-month jail term under the ban, which invokes a colonial criminal act dating back to 1889.
The ban also applies to low-rise jeans.
"They will be arrested," she said.
Hleta said women wearing revealing clothing were responsible for assaults or rapes committed against them.
"I have read from the social networks that men and even other women have a tendency of 'undressing people with their eyes'. That becomes easier when the clothes are hugging or are more revealing," Hleta said.
Traditional costumes
However, the ban does not apply to traditional costumes worn by young women during ceremonies like the annual Reed Dance, where the ruling King Mswati III chooses a wife.
The monarch already has 13 wives.
During the ceremony, beaded traditional skirts worn by young bare-breasted virgins cover only the front, leave the back exposed. Underwear is not allowed.
The law was enforced after a march by women and young girls last month calling for protection against a spate of rapes in the impoverished kingdom, almost entirely surrounded by South Africa.
According to a media report, the march was blocked by police.

Al-Qaeda offers $160,000 reward to kill US ambassador in Sanaa
US Ambassador to Yemen Gerald M. Feierstein, left, shakes hands with a Yemeni army officer during a visit to Abyan, Yemen. Al-Qaida's branch in Yemen has offered to pay tens of thousands of dollars to anyone who kills Feierstein or an American soldier in the country, according to an audio produced by the group's media arm, the al-Malahem Foundation, and posted on militant websites Saturday, December 29, 2012. Al-Qaeda’s branch in Yemen has offered to pay tens of thousands of dollars to anyone who kills the US ambassador in Sanaa or an American soldier in the country.
An audio produced by the group’s media arm, the al-Malahem Foundation, and posted on militant websites Saturday said it offered three kilograms of gold worth $160,000 for killing the ambassador, Gerald Feierstein.
The group said it will pay 5 million Yemeni riyals ($23,000) to anyone who kills an American soldier inside Yemen.
It said the offer is valid for six months.
The bounties were set to “inspire and encourage our Muslim nation for jihad,” the statement said.
The US Embassy in Sanaa did not respond to an Associated Press phone call asking for comment.
Washington considers al-Qaeda in Yemen to be the group’s most dangerous branch.
The group overran entire towns and villages last year by taking advantage of a security lapse during nationwide protests that eventually ousted the country’s longtime ruler. Backed by the US military experts based at a southern air base, Yemen’s army was able to regain control of the southern region, but al-Qaeda militants continue to launch deadly attacks on security forces that have killed hundreds.
In the capital, Sanaa, security officials said two gunmen on a motorbike shot and killed two intelligence officers early Sunday as they were leaving a downtown security facility. The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity according to regulations, said all intelligence and security officers have been instructed to take precautionary measures outside working hours.
The government blames al-Qaeda for the killing of several senior military and intelligence officials this year mainly by gunmen on motorbikes.
The officials said security authorities in Sanaa have launched a campaign against motorcyclists suspected of involvement in these attacks or other crimes, arresting about 200 for questioning for violations, including driving motorcycles without license plates.

India holds candlelit vigils for Delhi gang-rape victim
Candlelit vigils have been held across India to mourn a woman who has died after being gang-raped in Delhi.
Thousands of people gathered in the Indian capital to express their grief and demand justice for the 23-year-old victim, who died earlier on Saturday.
Six men arrested in connection with the 16 December attack have now been charged with murder.
The victim's body is being flown back home from Singapore, where she had been taken for specialist treatment.
The rape triggered violent public protests over attitudes towards women in India.
Large areas of Delhi were sealed off and hundreds of armed police and riot troops deployed as news of the victim's death spread.

Protest in Delhi, India (29 Dec 2012)
During Saturday, large crowds people gathered at sites where public gatherings were allowed.
These included the city's Jantar Mantar observatory, where people lit candles in the woman's memory.
"We are aware that this is not the first case, nor will it be the last case of gang-rape in India, but it is clear that we will not tolerate sex crimes any more," Rana, a lawyer, told the AFP news agency.
The victim's coffin, draped in a white flag, was taken to Singapore's Changi airport to be flown home, accompanied by her parents who were at her bedside when she died.
Over the past two weeks, the unnamed woman has became a symbol of the wider issue of how women are treated in India, says the BBC's Sanjoy Majumder in Delhi. The Mount Elizabeth hospital in Singapore said the woman "passed away peacefully" early on Saturday.
Hospital chief executive Kelvin Loh said she had suffered severe organ failure following serious injuries to her body and brain.
India's Home Affairs minister, Ratanjit Pratap Narain Singh, said he was "heartbroken" by her death.
"I can only assure the family that the government will take whatever steps are needed to ensure that her killers get the harshest punishment in the quickest of time," he said.
Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said he was "very saddened" by the woman's death, and that the angry public reaction was "perfectly understandable".
He called on politicians and the public to set aside "narrow sectional interest" and work together to make India "a demonstrably better and safer place for women to live in".The woman - a medical student whose identity has not been released - and her friend had been to see a film when they boarded the bus in the Munirka area of Delhi, intending to travel to Dwarka in the south-west of the city.
Police said she was raped for nearly an hour, and both she and her companion were beaten with iron bars, then thrown out of the moving bus into the street.
The assault sparked angry protests about the general conditions for women in India, and about what is seen as an inadequate police response to rape allegations.
Officials have since announced a series of measures intended to make Delhi safer for women.
These include more police night patrols, checks on bus drivers and their assistants, and the banning of buses with tinted windows or curtains.
The government has also said that it will post the photos, names and addresses of convicted rapists on official websites to shame them.
It has set up two committees - one looking into speeding up trials of cases involving sexual assaults on women, and the other to examine the lapses that might have led to the incident in Delhi.
But the protesters say the government's pledge to seek life sentences for the attackers is not enough - many are calling for the death penalty.

India gang-rape victim dies in hospital
A female student gang-raped on a bus in India's capital Delhi has died at a Singapore hospital, doctors say.
The 23-year-old had arrived in Singapore on Thursday after undergoing three operations in a Delhi hospital. The woman and a male friend, who have not been identified, were traveling on a bus in New Delhi after watching a film on the evening of Dec. 16 when they were attacked by six men who raped her. The men also beat the couple and inserted an iron rod into the woman's body, resulting in severe organ damage. Both were then stripped and thrown off the bus, according to police.
Indian police have arrested six people in connection with the attack, which left the victim with severe internal injuries, a lung infection and brain damage. She also suffered from a heart attack while in the hospital in India.
Indian High Commissioner, or ambassador, T.C.A. Raghavan told reporters that the scale of the injuries the woman suffered was "very grave" and in the end "proved too much."
He said arrangements were being made to take her body back to India.
The frightening nature of the crime shocked Indians, who have come out in the thousands for almost daily demonstrations. Indian television channels said security had been tightened in New Delhi on Saturday in anticipation of more protests following the woman's death.
The protesters are demanding stronger protection for women and the death penalty for rape, which is now punishable by a maximum of life imprisonment. Women face daily harassment across India, ranging from catcalls on the streets, groping and touching in public transport to rape.
On Friday, Abhijit Mukherjee, a national lawmaker and the son of India's president, apologized for calling the protesters "highly dented and painted" women who go from discos to demonstrations.
"I tender my unconditional apology to all the people whose sentiments got hurt," he told NDTV news.
Several Indian celebrities reacted with sadness Saturday over the woman's death. Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, "Her body has passed away, but her soul shall forever stir our hearts."
Separately, authorities in Punjab state took action Thursday when an 18-year-old woman killed herself by drinking poison a month after she told police she was gang-raped.
State authorities suspended one police officer and fired two others on accusations they delayed investigating and taking action in the case. The three accused in the rape were only arrested Thursday night, a month after the crime was reported.
"This is a very sensitive crime, I have taken it very seriously," said Paramjit Singh Gill, a top police officer in the city of Patiala.
The Press Trust of India reported that the woman was raped Nov. 13 and reported the attack to police Nov. 27. But police harassed the girl, asked her embarrassing questions and took no action against the accused, PTI reported, citing police sources.
Authorities in the eastern state of Chhattisgarh also suspended a police officer on accusations he refused to register a rape complaint from a woman who said she had been attacked by a driver.

Unbelievable!!. Englishman recovers from stroke, can speak only Welsh
Morgan
An Englishman recently recovered from a stroke and awoke to find himself only able to speak in a language he says he never formally learned.
Alun Morgan, 81, grew up speaking English, but lived in Wales temporarily when he was evacuated there during World War II. He lived there for only a few months, according to the Independent, though the BBC reported he was a resident for four years.
Either way, he "learned a bit of Welsh" while living there, but says he had not spoken the language for 70 years, though his wife speaks it fluently.
Following his stroke,Morgan was in a coma for three weeks, according to the Telegraph. When he finally regained consciousness, he was speaking Welsh, though he did not realize at the time he wasn't talking in his native tongue.
"I just spoke away. It wasn't until my wife told me what was happening I expressed some surprise," he told the BBC on Thursday.
The Bath resident told the station he "got up two or three days later and spoke English again," though he still has "a few problems" relating to speech. According to the Mail Online, Morgan said that "English words came back gradually, but it wasn't easy." He has reportedly been taking speech lessons to regain completely control over the language.
He has also stated that he has now "almost forgotten" Welsh again. Joe Korner of the Stroke Association told the Independent that aphasia -- a disorder that impairs an individual's ability to communicate and process language -- is one of several language issues that can occur after a stroke.
However, he noted, while some stroke survivors lose language skills or struggle to recall words, a small number may unlock language abilities they did not realize they had.
"We believe the damaged brain finds new pathways, which unlock memories or knowledge that is latent but not expressed,” Korner said.

1,000 doomsday cult members arrested in China
Police in China have carried out further arrests of members of a doomsday cult for spreading rumours about the imminent end of the world, state media say.
Almost 1,000 members of Christian group Almighty God have now been detained.
State media terms Almighty God an "evil cult" - the same description it applies to the banned Falun Gong group.
The sect predicts Friday will usher in three days of darkness and has urged its members to overthrow communism.
Its adherents believe 21 December is the last day in the Mayan long count calendar and thus signifies the end of the world.
The belief has gained considerable popularity in China where the film 2012 was a box office hit.
It is not just followers of Almighty God who think the world will end on Friday. A farmer in Hebei province, Liu Qiyuan has built seven survival pods which can contain 14 people each.
The pods, made of fibreglass, float on water and can survive storms.
Mr Liu told Agence France Press: "If there really is some kind of apocalypse then you could say I've made a contribution to the survival of humanity,"
To calm anxieties, police in Beijing have posted an online notice telling people that "the so-called end of the world is a rumour".
Almighty God has told its believers that the apocalypse will usher in a new era presided over by a "female Jesus", according to the Chinese newspaper Global Times.
The group has been attacked by Chinese media which variously accuses female members of using "sex communication" to ensnare single men, of banning followers from carrying mobile phones and of using pseudonyms to conceal their real identities.
Little is known about the group, which state media said was formed about 20 years ago in the central Henan province.
Most of the arrests have been in the provinces of Qinghai and Guizhou, the Beijing Times reported.

Tunisian man dies after eating 28 raw eggs in 20 minutes
Fatnassi
On Wednesday, 20-year-old Tunisian man Dhaou Fatnassi died after completing a dare to eat 28 raw eggs, French-language radio station Shems FM reported.
According to News.com.au, Fatnassi's friends had promised to give him "an undisclosed sum of money" if he swallowed all 28 of the raw eggs whole. (One assumes that did not include the shells, but you can never be sure.) After doing so, Fatnassi reportedly started to feel pains in his stomach. He headed toward the Hopital les Aghlabides in Kairouan, Tunisia, to receive medical attention, but died in transit.
Over the years, many have surely wondered whether the famous egg-eating scene in "Cool Hand Luke" was replicable in real life, and whether it was really possible to eat 50 eggs and live to tell the tale, as Paul Newman's character did. (Though his eggs were hard-boiled, not raw.) But Fatnassi's grim end shows that some feats are meant to stay fictional. Let's hope his example wards off any future daredevils in the egg-eating arena.

Uta Kohaku
A Japanese porn actress has at least 100 fans that would give their lives to her. Well, at least help her give life to another.
As part of an upcoming erotic opus tentatively titled "Semen Collection 2," Uta Kohaku asked her fans on Twitter to donate to the cause by sending in bottles of their own male bodily fluids for inclusion in the film, according to the Brazilian website, Odia.ig.com.br.
The actress received more than 100 bottles of sperm-filled plastic bottles in a 10-day period, each featuring the name of the dirty donator, DigitalJournal.com reported.

Argentinian woman to marry man who murdered her twin sister

An Argentinian woman will reportedly marry the man convicted of murdering her twin sister in a ceremony Friday to be held at the prison where he is serving out his sentence for the crime.
Edith Casas, 22, steadfastly believes in her husband-to-be’s innocence, although her mother has vowed to do everything she can to block her impending jailhouse nuptials.
"We know this will be hard because she is an adult, but we will go to court to try to have her examined by a psychiatrist,” Marcelina Orellana reportedly said of her daughter, who is set to marry Victor Cingolani. “As far as we are concerned, she does not know what she is doing.”
Casas, for her part, described her husband-to-be as, “a guy who would not hurt a fly. He did not kill her…(My mother) cannot say I need a psychiatrist because I am fully aware of what I am doing.”
Cingolani is now serving a 13-year sentence in a prison in Santa Cruz province for killing Johana Casas, a fashion model, in August 2010.
"I loved Johana, but I love Edith," Cingolani said, according to Agence France-Presse. "I have a beautiful bride and I am going to marry her."
Another man, Marcos Diaz, who had also gone out with Johana, is also doing time over the killing.
In 2010, the body of Johana Casas turned up in a field with two bullets holes in it; Cingolani was subsequently convicted of the crime, though Edith maintains her fiancé's innocence.
She tells The BBC that Cingolani "would not hurt a fly."
The controversial nuptials were scheduled to take place on Saturday, but a civil judge granted the request of Edith's mother for her daughter to undergo a psychiatric evaluation because she believes Edith to be mentally "ill."
Cingolani's attorney, Lucas Chacon, says Marcos Diaz - who was dating Johana at the time of her death - is actually responsible for the murder. Diaz goes on trial next year.

Irannian govt re-arrests Pastor Nadarkhani on Christmas day
Nadarkhani
The Iranian Christian pastor who had been imprisoned in Iran for converting from Islam to Christianity was taken into custody again on Christmas Day, according to several Iranian media sources and individuals close to the pastor and his family.
Youcef Nadarkhani, 35, had been summoned to return back to Lakan Prison in Rasht, the facility where he served time and was then released, based on the charge that he must complete the remainder of his sentence, according to several reports and confirmed by those close to Nadarkhani in Iran.
In September, the pastor was acquitted of apostasy, but the court maintained his three-year sentence for evangelizing Muslims. As he had already served close to three years, the pastor was freed after posting bail.
The court had then stated that the remainder which equaled roughly 45 days, would be served in the form of probation.
Nadarkhani, married and father of two young children, came under the regime’s radar in 2006 when he applied for his church to be registered with the state. According to sources, he was arrested at that time and then soon released.
In 2009, Nadarkhani went to local officials to complain about Islamic indoctrination in his school district, arguing that his children should not be forced to learn about Islam.
He was subsequently arrested.
Since Nadarkhani's release in September, his attorney, Mohammed Ali Dadkhah has been imprisoned and remains in Iran's notoriously brutal Evin Prison where his health is rapidly deteriorating and is being denied proper dental care, according to his family. He has been incarcerated for advocating Nadarkhani's case and other human rights cases.
After his release, Nadarkhani wrote a public letter thanking all those who helped release him. In November, he traveled to London to speak at a national human rights conference thanking those who advocated on his behalf.

Doctor infects patients with hepatitis B during surgery
A doctor with hepatitis B who performed joint replacement surgeries unknowingly passed the virus on to at least two of his patients, according to a new report.
The report, issued by researchers at the University of Virginia Health System, said the surgeon first became aware that he had hepatitis B after he stuck himself with a needle, and underwent routine testing for blood-borne diseases. The surgeon had emigrated from a country that had a high prevalence of hepatitis B, and likely had had chronic hepatitis B for some time without showing symptoms, such as fever and nausea.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the surgeon's hospital began an investigation to identify and test all of the patients that the surgeon has treated during the previous nine months — the length of time he had worked at the hospital. Most of the surgeon's patients had undergone either hip or knee replacement surgery.
Out of 232 patients who were tested, two were found to be infected with a hepatitis B virus that was genetically identical to the one seen in the surgeon, meaning these two patients most likely caught the virus from the doctor. These patients were treated with drugs.
Another six patients had been infected with hepatitis B in the past. Because these patients did not currently have hepatitis B in their blood, researchers could not determine if the virus had been transmitted by the surgeon. But because these patients did not have any known risk factors for developing hepatitis B, it's possible they could have caught the virus from the surgeon, and cleared it from their bodies before being tested.
The report was published in the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases in October 2012, but the incident occurred in 2009.
Hepatitis B is transmitted through contact with bodily fluids, including blood. The surgeon discussed in the report always wore two sets of gloves when he performed surgery, so it's not clear how he could have passed the virus to his patients.
"That is a bit of a mystery," said study research Dr. Costi Sifri, an infectious disease researcher and hospital epidemiologist at the University of Virginia Health System.
The researchers speculate that tiny tears in the gloves that occurred during surgery may have allowed the virus to pass from doctor to patient. In order for this have occurred, the surgeon would likely have had to have a cut on his hands as well, Sifri said.
Just last week, it was reported that a Los Angeles surgeon transmitted staph infections to his patients during surgery, possibly through tears in his gloves.
The findings underscore the need for surgeons to know whether or not they are infected with hepatitis B, and other blood-borne diseases such as HIV, Sifri said.
The surgeon in this case had previously received the hepatitis B vaccine, but did not respond to the vaccine because he already had an infection, Sifri said.
