Indian doctor traded drugs for sex, says Mishawaka Police

Dr. Charles E. Myers and his daughter, Autumn Myers

A Mishawaka doctor and his daughter have been arrested and charged with dealing in a controlled substance, according to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office. The doctor is also accused of having sex with a patient and then paying her for sex with prescription drugs, according to court documents.
On Wednesday, police in Mishawaka, Indiana, charged Dr. Charles E. Myers, 65, with two Class B felonies for allegedly dealing controlled substances and booked him into St. Joseph County Jail on $10,000 cash bond.
His daughter, Autumn Myers, 30, who worked as the office manager, was charged with one Class B felony for dealing in controlled substances and booked into jail on $5,000 cash bond.
Supervisory Deputy Indiana Attorney General Drew Adams with the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit said the doctor had been in a sex-for-cash relationship with an unidentified woman since 2010.
The woman told investigators Myers paid her approximately $10,000 for sex over a two-year period. At one point in the relationship, he told her he could no longer pay for sex and offered to pay her with prescriptions, according to ABC57.com.
The prescriptions were written in the woman's name and in the names of several other people, investigators said.
Other patients allegedly claim they received prescriptions for controlled substances, including Adderall, oxycodone and methadone. Dr. Myers never examined these patients, according to court documents.
Police estimate that Myers issued about 150 prescriptions without legitimate medical reasons between 2011 and the beginning of 2014, according to Fox28.com.
Myers allegedly kept an air mattress in the office for having sex at work.
Myers' daughter allegedly got into the act in January 2013 when she reportedly starting selling Adderall to another unidentified woman for $5 a pill.
Myers allegedly advised the woman to become a patient of her father and to “make up” a medical problem to obtain Adderall, according to WNDU.com.
Court documents allege that Dr. Myers admitted to the affair and to providing the woman with controlled substance prescription for her and her friends, according to WNDU.
As a condition of bail, Dr. Myers license to practice medicine has been suspended.
Autumn Myers will be in court on June 17 to set trial and record dates. Dr. Myers' trial will be assigned on June 19.

59-yr-old billionaire jailed for sexual assault of stepdaughter

Samuel Curtis Johnson III
Wisconsin billionaire Samuel Curtis Johnson III pleaded guilty on Friday to misdemeanor sexual assault of his stepdaughter and was sentenced to four months in jail, according to court records.
Johnson, heir to the SC Johnson & Son family fortune, also pleaded guilty in Racine County Circuit Court to disorderly conduct in the case involving the girl.
Johnson, 59, was charged in 2011 with felony sexual assault but prosecutors had to seek lesser charges because they were unable to get cooperation or necessary records from the victim, Racine County District Attorney Rich Chiapete said on Friday.
Johnson faced up to 40 years in prison on the initial felony charges that alleged multiple incidents from 2007 to 2010, starting when the victim was 12 years old.
"I'd like to deeply apologize to my stepdaughter and my wife ... for the tremendous hurt that I have caused," Johnson said during his sentencing on Friday, a video of which was posted on the Racine Journal Times newspaper website.
Johnson will have to serve at least 60 days in jail of the four-month sentence and pay a fine of up to $6,000, according to the plea agreement.
SC Johnson is a privately held Racine, Wisconsin-based maker of household cleaning and other products. Johnson had been chairman of Diversey Inc., a Wisconsin cleaning product company acquired by Sealed Air Corp in 2011, but he took a leave of absence in early 2011, Diversey said in a statement at the time.

Court jails 72-yr-old woman for hugging her granddaughter

Ban: Kathleen Danby, 72, has been sentenced to three months in prison after she was filmed giving her granddaughter a hug after disobeying an order she should not see the 18-year-old
Ban: Kathleen Danby, 72, has been sentenced to three months in prison after she was filmed giving her granddaughter a hug after disobeying an order she should not see the 18-year-old

A grandmother has been sentenced to three months in prison after she was filmed giving her granddaughter a hug.
Kathleen Danby, 72, was jailed by the secretive Court of Protection, which decided she had disobeyed its order that she should not see the teenager.
Under a draconian judgment kept secret from the public, Mrs Danby had been banned from making contact with the girl, who is 18 but has learning difficulties. She was told she could only speak to her on the phone once a month at a set time, with social workers listening in. Mrs Danby was ordered back to court when social workers heard that she had met the girl at a model railway exhibition. Police also presented CCTV footage of her hugging her granddaughter outside a pub.
Mrs Danby was not at the hearing in Birmingham in April to give her version of events but Judge Martin Cardinal said the CCTV showed she was in contempt. He ordered that she be jailed for three months and issued a warrant for her arrest.

However Mrs Danby, who lives in Orkney, said yesterday that no police officers had arrived to execute the warrant. ‘I haven’t been jailed simply because I refused to go down there to court,’ she said, adding that she would refuse to go to prison simply for making contact with her granddaughter.
Ruling: Judge Martin Cardinal said the CCTV showed Mrs Danby was in contempt
Ruling: Judge Martin Cardinal said the CCTV showed Mrs Danby was in contempt
‘She is 18 and can decide for herself what she wants to do, she is being denied her human rights,’ Mrs Danby said. ‘She has the educational standards of somebody half her age, and behaves like a much younger child, but she is completely lucid in what she wants.’
Mrs Danby said the girl was moved into care in Derbyshire in 2007, when she was 11, a year after being removed from her father in Orkney.  He was banned from seeing her after he was convicted for ill-treatment for restraining her from running into a busy road while she was having a temper tantrum, Mrs Danby said.
She said it was a ‘spurious excuse’, adding: ‘Social services completely cut off contact which was of course cruel to her in the extreme.’ The girl’s father has been jailed twice for trying to contact her – once for waving at her taxi as she travelled to school – she said.
The teenager was in the care home against her will and had run away 175 times, Mrs Danby said.
Judge Cardinal is the judge who sent Wanda Maddocks to jail in secret for trying to free her 80-year-old father from a care home where she feared his life was at risk.
Judge Cardinal jailed Miss Maddocks without publishing her name or making any details of her contempt public. She served six weeks in jail. The case came to light more than six months later and led to new rules so that no one may ever again be imprisoned without their name being published.
In Mrs Danby’s case, Judge Cardinal said that the teenager, named only as B, finds it hard to control her anger, has self-harmed and frequently runs away. Social workers believe her distress increases when she is contacted by her father or grandmother, he said.
Derbyshire County Council said Mrs Danby broke the injunction banning contact by meeting her granddaughter at 5.27pm on February 28 outside the pub next to the care home.

    How police detailed the 'crime'
Four days earlier, the teenager escaped from her minder and took a circuitous route to the town of Chapel-en-le-Frith. Judge Cardinal said the girl knew that for the last three years her grandmother has attended a model railway show there in February. She told a care worker that her grandmother had come from Scotland to see her.
‘I am sure this grandmother needs restraint,’ he said.
Last night lawyers were debating whether, by failing to give any information about why Mrs Danby is banned from seeing her granddaughter, Judge Cardinal had met the full requirements brought in after the Maddocks case.

50-yr-old woman set up rape of underage girl by landlord to pay off debts

Woman, 50, arranged for her landlord to rape underage teenager instead of paying him rent
from left to rightMuriel Coleman and Akhtar Hassan

A woman who set up the rape of a teenage girl so she could pay off her debt has been jailed for eight years.
Muriel Coleman, of Stanley, Durham, organised meetings between the vulnerable youngster and Akhtar Hassan whose family owned the house she lived in after she fell just over £1,000 behind on her rent.
A judge said Coleman 'seems to be more sorry for herself than for her victim'.
Newcastle Crown Court heard Hassan repeatedly raped the girl and subjected her to sickening sexual abuse over a three month period early last year.
During the attacks the married father-of-three told the girl to 'shut up' and said she must co-operate for his 'pleasurement'.The attacks were carried out while Hassan’s family and children were out of the country in Pakistan.
Hassan, 37, of Stanley, County Durham, who denied the charges against him but was found guilty after a trial by a jury, was jailed for 13 years.
Coleman, of Brandon, County Durham, had admitted what she did and gave evidence against Hassan during the case.
Coleman pleaded guilty at the start of the trial to two offences of encouraging or assisting a sexual offence.
Akhtar denied four charges of rape and one of attempted rape, but was found guilty of all counts.

42 yr-old mother who had sex with 15-yr-old boy is spared jail because she gave birth to his baby

Spared jailed: Helen Cartwright, 42, had sex with a schoolboy and had his baby but was given a suspended sentence

A 42-year-old mother who had sex with a 15-year-old has been spared jail after a judge was told she had given birth to the schoolboy's baby.
Married Helen Cartwright slept with the teenager, who is 27 years her junior, after months of flirting and admitted to police she knew he was underage, Wolverhampton Crown Court heard.
Their relationship was initially 'hugging and kissing' before they had sex at her home in Dudley, West Midlands, last May.
Cartwright, who already had two children, fell pregnant and gave birth to his baby, who is now five months old.
They became a couple after he turned 16 and she left her husband.
Yesterday she was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for two years, after she admitted sexual activity with a child under 16 at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
She was also given a two-year supervision order and placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for 10 years.
Sentencing her Judge John Warner told Cartwright: 'You are not necessarily a sophisticated person and clearly gave no thought to the consequences.
'You should not have allowed things to continue as you did.
'There is clearly a significant difference in age but if this had happened two months later no crime would have been committed.
'I have thought long and hard about it, and in this case it may be appropriate to move outside the acceptable sentencing guidelines. Your relationship is now, for better or for worse, a legal one.'
The court heard the lad seduced Cartwright and had sex with her in her home where she lived with her husband and children.
Prosecutor Ms Sati Ruck said: 'It was the boy who instigated the sexual relationship when he slept with the defendant in her own bed.'
Cartwright was arrested after social services were contacted following a tip-off about her relationship with the boy.
When questioned by officers, Cartwright admitted knowing the lad was underage.
The court heard the pair stopped seeing each other when the police became involved but have rekindled their relationship and now have a child together.
Ms Sharonjit Bahia, defending, said: 'She admitted her guilt in a police interview and made no attempt to hide her involvement.'

Man killed mother-in-law in violent sex attack after surfing pornography websites

From left to right,      Mohammud Yusuf and Amoe Stevens

A porn addict who murdered his mother-in-law in a horrific sex attack that shocked an Old Bailey judge is facing life in jail.
Mohammud Yusuf, 32, inflicted 'the most agonising death imaginable' on Amoe Stevens, 64, while his two young sons sat in the next room listening to their grandmother's cries.
Yusuf - who had an obsession with violent pornography - carried out the sex attack on Mrs Stevens before leaving her to bleed to death at her home in Neasden, north west London.
‘I have never come across such a factual background of a case like this.'
During the trial, the court heard police were called by the carer found Mrs Stevens at around 8pm in October last year.
Examination of Yusuf’s phone later revealed searches for pornographic videos showing violent rape, gang rape and incest.
Prosecutor David Jeremy QC told the jury that there was a link between this interest and the injuries suffered by Mrs Stevens. He said: ‘Why this defendant or anyone would have inflicted injuries like these on their defenceless mother-in-law is not a question to which the prosecution can provide you with a complete or satisfactory answer.
‘But clues may be found in the contents of his phone and computers.
‘When you put alongside each other what must be a clearly deviant interest this defendant had in pain and degradation of women and what happened to Mrs Stevens, there is a relationship between them.
‘The effect of that is that it makes it more likely that it was this defendant who would have carried out that assault.’
Both Yusuf’s sons gave evidence to the jury. The court heard both are suffering emotional problems as a result of the case and one has resorted to self-harm.
Mrs Stevens said in a victim impact statement that the case had devastated the family.
Summarising the statement, Mr Jeremy said: ‘She describes her mother as a soft-spoken, hard-workingm loving person who was the peacemaker in any disputes.
‘She describes herself as being overwhelmed having lost her mother and her children having lost their father.
‘They are struck most of all by the complete lack of remorse that the defendant has show towards her mother, herself, her family and his two sons by defending himself.
‘He has made the experience even more agonising by refusing to face up to what he did.’
Yusuf will be sentenced on Friday. The judge warned he could face life imprisonment for the crime.

Two 12-yr-olds stabbed their mate 19 times to prove belief in ghostly stories

      The suspects
Two 12-year-old girls have confessed to the police that they viciously stabbed a classmate 19 times  so they could join the online cult of the 'Slender Man' after reading about him online.

The girls told investigators they believed the Slender Man was real and they wanted to prove it by slaughtering their friend after inviting her for a sleepover in the Milwaukee suburb of Waukesha, Wisconsin.
The girls told police they read about the fictional character on a website known as Creepypasta Wiki, where scary stories are submitted by users.
One of the suspects is understood to have told police a user must kill someone in order to climb into the Slender Man's realm, CNN has reported.
They said they had planned to run away and join the Slender Man in his mansion in the woods outside of town. One girl even had a picture of her family with her. She said she packed it because she didn't want to forget what they looked like.
The Slender Man is a prevalent internet myth that has been a viral sensation since it emerged online in 2009. The paranormal creature stalks, abducts and traumatizes children for its own amusement. It can also supposedly control people and communicate telepathically.

Every student at the middle school where the girls attend had recently been given iPads. Parents say officials promised to monitor the students' online activity, but never did.

When the girl escaped in the midst of the assault, her assailants grabbed her and pulled her into the woods and told her to lay down and be quiet, hoping she would bleed out and die, according to court documents.
She eventually crawled out of the woods, covered in blood after being stabbed in the legs, arms and torso. A passing cyclist saw her and called police. The girl was taken to the hospital and is expected to live, despite being stabbed a dozen and a half times.
Surgeons say she was a 'millimeter from death' - one of the stab wounds nearly sliced open a major artery.
'It was weird that I didn't feel remorse,' one of the girls told detectives.
'The bad part of me wanted her to die, the good part of me wanted her to live,' the other girl said.

        INTERNET MYTH OF SLENDER MAN

The Slender Man is a fictional character prevalent on the internet after originating as a meme in 2009.
The mythical creature is often depicted as an unnaturally tall, thin figure with a blank, featureless face, wearing a black suit.
The character is said to have long, tentacle-like arms, which can be extended to capture prey.
It is said to stalk, abduct and traumatize children and, depending on interpretations of the myth, can cause memory loss, insomnia and paranoia.
It is also said to be able to create distortions in photographs and teleport.
It is understood to have originated in a photoshop contest on the Something Awful Forums in 2009.
It then went viral with numerous works of fanart and short scary stories published online known as 'creepypasta'.
Both girls are charged as adults with attempted per-meditated murder. If convicted, they face 65 years in prison and are being held on $500,000 bail each.
The girls were found walking near an interstate highway shortly after their victim was rescued. They had a backpack full of snacks and a five-inch knife.
Both girls appeared in court on Monday, wearing shackles and jail jumpsuits. They were surrounded by sheriff's baliffs, who towered over them. Family members of one of the girls wept openly as reporters snapped photographs. The other girl's family sat stone-faced.
According to the criminal complaint, one of the girls told an investigator they began planning to kill their friend in December. The other girl told police they decided to kill her so they could become proxies of Slender Man, who would accept them and let them live with him in his mansion in the Nicolet National Forest.
The other girl said she sees Slender Man in her dreams. She said he watches her and can read her mind and teleport.
'It's extremely disturbing as a parent and as chief of police,' Waukesha Police Chief Russell Jack said at a news conference ahead of the court appearances Monday.
The girls invited their friend to a slumber party on Friday evening, the complaint said. They planned to kill her during the night so they wouldn't have to look into her eyes, one girl told police, and then run away. They decided to put it off, but the next day, during a hide-and-seek game in a wooded park, they attacked their friend with a knife. One girl told the other to 'go ballistic, go crazy,' according to the complaint. The victim began to scream that she hated them and started stumbling away, one of the girls told police.
The girls left the victim lying in the woods. She crawled to a road where a bicyclist found her lying on the sidewalk. Police arrived and she gave them the name of one of the girls who attacked her.
She was rushed into surgery, police said.
One of the girl's attorneys, Donna Kuchler, asked Pieper to remove reporters from the courtroom because she planned to attempt to get her client waived into juvenile court. Pieper refused. Kuchler escorted the girl's family out of the courtroom, telling reporters only that the family was horrified at what happened.
The other girl's attorney, Joseph Smith Jr., led her family out of court. He declined to comment.
Both girls are due back in court on June 11 for a status conference.

One of Germany's most famous fortune tellers is fighting for her life in intensive care after being stabbed repeatedly by a man unhappy with her advice.
The fortune teller Zagorka Jovanovic, 68, who advertises on white magic websites as Esmeralda aus Bilk, charged hundreds of euros for a sitting in which she claimed to use the spiritual world to settle relationship disputes.
But she was stabbed outside her flat in Dusseldorf, a city in western Germany, by Turkish man Metin Kolkilic, after advising his lover to leave him.
According to police 43-year-old Kolkilic had started a relationship with a local woman after she had walked out on her previous partner.

Police are hunting for 43-year-old Metin Kolkilic, who is believed to have attacked Jovanovic after she told his lover to leave him
Police are hunting for 43-year-old Metin Kolkilic, who is believed to have attacked Jovanovic after she told his lover to leave him
Knowing that she was superstitious, her ex persuaded the woman to visit Esmeralda. She advised the pair to get back together if the young woman wanted to have a happy future.
As a result she walked out on Kolkilic and returned to her previous lover.
Kolkilic flew into a rage when his lover told him she was leaving him because of the psychic.
He went to see the fortune teller himself, and after she opened the door he stabbed her repeatedly before running off.
The fortune teller's husband, who heard her screaming from the hallway, said she was already lying on the floor in a pool of blood with no sign of her attacker by the time he found her.
He called an ambulance and medics say it was only thanks to a speedy emergency operation that she is alive.
Kolkilic has gone on the run. Police officers are still looking for him and believe he may have fled back to Turkey.
The fortune teller became famous in Dusseldorf after she signed up a number of prominent clients including the local mayor Joachim Erwin.

16-yr-old boy admits to killing parents for taking his iPod

          Vincent Parker
A sixteen year old boy, Vincent Parker, who killed his mother and father using a base ball bat and a crow bar has confessed to the murder.
Vincent Parker said he doused his mother with pepper spray before stabbing her in the eye and beating her with both a baseball bat and a crowbar on Dec. 19. He struck her 25 times before moving on to his father, who he killed using the same weapons.
And he did it all over a series of common punishments, "like my dad taking away my iPod and stuff," he reportedly told police. Parker admitted to the gruesome murders in a confession revealed in a Virginia court on Wednesday, according to WTKR-TV.
"I just remember getting mad," he reportedly told police. "It’s all from my dad. All this stuff like my dad taking away my iPod and stuff."
Parker -- an honor roll student at Norview High School in Norfolk -- confessed to killing his mother Carol, 57, and father Wayne, 55, after his DNA was found on several murder weapons, the New York Daily News reports. Those included the crowbar, the baseball bat and several bloody knives.
He was charged as an adult and pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder.
His grandfather, Allen Taylor, forgave the boy and told reporters that Parker was "smart" and "sane," according to the Daily Mail. A medical examiner says this smart and sane teen smashed and stabbed his mother 25 times in the neck, face and head until she stopped breathing.
He's scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 18.

Bride fastened new born baby to her wedding gown as she walked down the aisle

bride with baby on wedding dress

A Tennessee bride has defended her curious decision to strap her newborn daughter into the train of her wedding dress as she walked down the aisle, saying the baby was 'awake and well-secured' and that she was 'covered by Christ'.
Shona Carter-Brooks has been attacked online for the bizarre bridal party moment following her marriage to Johnathan Brooks in Ripley last month,  with some commentators arguing she should be reported to child protection services.
The couple, who live in Jackson, just outside of Nashville, are believed to have only welcomed their little girl, Aubrey, one month before the ceremony.
The dress - which is believed to be part of Vera Wang's diffusion line, White by Vera Wang, costing anywhere from around $400 to $1400 - appears to have been altered to allow for the child.

Criticisms of the act ranged from 'classless' to 'incredibly dangerous', which many saying the child could have suffered carpet burn from being dragged along the floor of the Elam Baptist Church in Ripley.
'I am sorry but if I would have saw that I would have gotten out of my seat and taken that baby. That is truly dumb,' complained one person on the website Clutch.
However Carter-Brooks hit back at her critics in two elaborate posts on her Facebook page, saying she does not regret the decision.
'People questioning what we do, commenting all negative, and just doing the most,' she wrote.
'We good though we covered by the Blood which never loose its power.
'So to the media, radio, news, and whomever else wanting to talk about what WE do here you go:
'Media Media I see how it works regardless the situation or purpose people gone (sic) have something negative to say!
'The answer is we do what we want, when we want, as long as Jesus on our side everything worked out fine and gona (sic) continue to be fine.'
The bride's second post maintained that her daughter was in no danger.
'Our 1 month old was awake and well secured on my train,' Carter-Brooks wrote.
'Most important while yall got ya feelings in us we had our hearts in Christ which covers all!!
'So keep ya mouths running for it was just that Exclusive and Epic enough we made top blog (sic) way from small town Ripley, TN and the social media doing what they do, TALK!!!!

'Too bless for mess!! Thank God we aint no celebrities oops got fans, guess we is!
'Sign off Mr & Mrs Brooks!!'
The couple have listed their wedding anniversary on Facebook as May 12.
A friend and wedding attendee commented that the baby moment made her emotional.

'Shona and Johnathan Brooks your wedding was super perfect from the groom and his men and you and your diva's baby you rock the gown and the princess tagging behind you it brought tears to my eyes. Regardless of anybody else dream your's came true. I loved it and thank you for inviting me,' wrote Pamela Stone.
Jonathon Brooks lists his job as a forklift driver.
Shona Carter-Brooks has another daughter named Jania.
The dress is thought to have been purchased from David's Bridal in Jackson, however a saleswoman said she could not comment when contacted by The MailOnline.
A similar-style ball gown dress is advertised on the chain's website for $1248.

The wedding dress, which is believed to be from the Vera Wang diffusion line White by Vera Wang, appears to have been altered to allow for the little girl

Outrage in US as Obama frees 5 jailed terrorists in exchange for an American POW

An American soldier, sergeant Bowe Bergdahl  captured in Afghanistan five years ago was on Saturday, freed in exchange for the freedom of five deadly terrorists hitherto jailed by the US Government.
Obama's decision to free the Taliban terrorists - including a friend of Osama Bin Laden, an opium drug lord and a warlord responsible for hundreds of deaths - in return for sergeant Bowe Bergdahl has already attracted fierce criticism from opponents.
But a gloating victory message issued by the fugitive Taliban leader today is sure to ramp up the pressure on the president.
Omar said: 'I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the entire Afghan Muslim nation, all the mujahideen and to the families and relatives of the prisoners for this big victory.'
Bergdahl, who was held for almost five years by Islamic militants, was freed on Saturday after the US agreed to free the five most important Taliban prisoners in the Guantanamo Bay detention centre.
A shroud of mystery has hung over the soldier’s disappearance from a remote outpost amid speculation he might have deserted. Sgt Bergdahl had told his parents he was disillusioned with the campaign in Afghanistan and did not like his fellow soldiers.  Bowe Bergdahl is said to have sent e-mails to his parents that suggest he had become disillusioned with America's mission in Afghanistan and was considering desertion.
The 28-year-old's friends say he enlisted in the army to help the Afghan people and provide philanthropic support to the war effort.
But the emergence of a series of e-mails suggest he had lost faith in the U.S. Army's mission shortly before he was captured five years ago, some claim after he willingly walked away from his base.In the messages, quoted by Rolling Stone magazine, he tells his parents: 'The future is too good to waste on lies.
'And life is way too short to care for the damnation of others as well as to spend it helping fools with their ideas that are wrong.'
Three days before he went missing, he tells them: 'These people need help, yet what they get is the most conceited country in the world telling them that they are nothing and that they are stupid.'
Bergdahl, who mailed home boxes containing his uniform and books, later added: 'I am ashamed to be an American. And the title of U.S. soldier is just the lie of fools.
'I am sorry for everything. The horror that is America is disgusting.'
In one reply, his father, Bob Bergdahl, writes: 'OBEY YOUR CONSCIENCE!'
The Associated Press could not independently authenticate the emails published by the magazine in 2012.
Bergdahl's release, brokered with the Taliban in exchange for five Guantanamo detainees, has ignited fury in some corners of the U.S. military community and re-opened old wounds, with some accusing him of desertion.
'Bowe Bergdahl deserted during a time of war and his fellow Americans lost their lives searching for him,' former Sergeant Matt Vierkant told CNN.
Bergdahl's family has not commented on the allegations of desertion, according to Colonel Tim Marsano, a spokesman for the Idaho National Guard.
A senior Defense Department official said previously said that if Bergdahl was released, it could be determined that he had more than paid for leaving his unit '.Eugene R. Fidell, who teaches military justice at Yale Law School, said if there is evidence that Bergdahl left his unit without permission, he could be charged with being absent without leave (AWOL) or desertion.
Desertion during a time of war can carry the death penalty.

Never forgotten: Obama says the the U.S. government never gave up in trying to secure the release of Bowe Bergdahl, who was held by the Taliban for nearly five years

However, the freed terrorists were reported to have left Cuba for Qatar at 2pm on Saturday. The five men will be under strict supervision in Qatar. Their movements and interactions with others will be restricted and monitored. Under the conditions of their release, they will be banned from traveling outside of Qatar for at least one year.
Obama and the emir of Qatar spoke last week about the conditions of the release, which have been codified in a memorandum of understanding between the two countries, officials said.

After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, Murray ran off.
Police used a Taser on Murray, before taking him into custody.
