Detroit man threw football stuffed with drugs, cell phones over prison wall at Michigan- cops

A Detroit man is facing felony charges for attempting to toss a football stuffed with narcotics and cell phones over a fence and into the exercise yard of a Michigan state prison, investigators report.

The alleged smuggling bid literally fell short Sunday morning when the football landed between two fences at the G. Robert Cotton Correctional Facility in Jackson, a city about 40 miles west of Ann Arbor.

According to police, a corrections officer spotted Christen Deon-Sterling Moore exit a vehicle and toss the football toward the yard. Moore, 22, was then taken into custody by the prison officer.

A subsequent examination of the football revealed that it contained marijuana, heroin, tobacco and three cell phones with chargers. As seen in the above Michigan Department of Corrections evidence photo, the football landed on a pathway adjacent to the prison yard.

Moore, pictured at right, was charged with three counts of furnishing contraband to inmates. It is unclear who was the intended recipient of the football’s illegal contents.

Arraigned today on the felony charges, Moore is locked up in lieu of $50,000 bond.

Man murders wife, daughter and son before committing suicide on Fathers Day

A 35-year-old man, Barry Jernigan fatally shot his wife and two kids before killing himself Sunday evening, according to police report.

Police were first alerted to the family’s home after Barry’s boss called to report that Barry had left him a message “that sounded threatening and possibly suicidal in nature.” Officers heard gunshots as they approached the home, but it was already too late.

Barry’s wife, 30-year-old Renotta Jernigan, and stepdaughter, 9-year-old Alexis Kellas, had both collapsed in the front yard after being shot. Neighbors who’d heard the gunfire were providing first aid to the victims, but Renotta would die on the scene while Alexis would die later at the hospital.

Inside the home, police would find 2-year-old Seth Jernigan had been shot to death as he lay in his crib. As for Barry, he was also found in the home, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. “At this point, the investigation indicates that Barry Jernigan shot his son, stepdaughter and wife before turning the gun on himself,” police said in a statement.

Neighbors say they all pitched in that night in an attempt to save the family. One neighbor, a nurse, pulled Seth from his crib and attempted to perform CPR on the floor before police and rescuers arrived. Another neighbor described seeing Barry dead in a hallway and performing CPR on Renotta.

No word on a motive, but some are commenting that Renotta wanted a divorce. Barry’s father is shocked at his son’s actions, stating he knew that his son had struggled financially for years, but had never conveyed he was in any kind of distress.

Crippled Indian boy with 7 inch TAIL is worshipped as a god by his people

An Indian teenager is worshipped as a god because he has a 7ins ‘tail’.

Arshid Ali Khan, 13, has become a divine symbol in the state of Punjab. 

Locals have hailed him a reincarnation of the Hindu monkey god Hanuman - and refer to him as Balaji.

However, Arshid has to use a wheelchair and he is considering having the ‘tail’ removed.

He said: ‘This tail has been given to me by God. I am worshipped because I pray to god and the wishes of people come true.

‘I feel neither good nor bad about having a tail.’

Arshid lives with his grandfather, Iqbal Qureshi, and two uncles, after his father died when he was four and his mother remarried.

Mr Qureshi, a music instructor, said: ‘When he spoke for the first time at the age on one all he spoke was the names of Gods from different religions.

‘It was that day I realised that he had something divine and godly about him.’

WHY DOES ARSHID HAVE A TAIL?

Arshid's condition has not been formally diagnosed.

But, doctors have suggested his walking problems could be caused by brittle bones.

Others believe his tail and partial paralysis could be a sign that he has a form of spina bifida calledmeningocele.

This develops when membranes poke through a hole between the vertebrae in the back.

He added: ‘It does not matter whether we are Muslims or Hindus, I think there is just one path for spiritualism.’

Arshid's home has been converted into a temple where his devotees come to visit him to receive his blessings and touch his ‘tail’. 

‘A lot of people’s wishes have come true after they have visited,’ claimed Mr Qureshi.

‘Sometimes there are childless couples who come to Balaji for help. He blesses them, and often they are then able to conceive.’

However, Arshid often struggles to balance his time with his faithful devotees and attending school and playing with his friends.

He said: ‘Mostly on weekdays I have to go to school but when I have a school holiday on Sunday around 20 to 30 people come to see me at my home.’ 

He added: ‘No one teases me. Everybody wants to see my tail and so they keep asking.’

Despite his supposed powers, Arshid has to use a wheelchair and suffers from an undiagnosed disorder.

Some doctors in India have told the family it is down to brittle bones while others have said it is due to the 'tail' growth protruding from his spine.

Others have suggested he has a form of spina bifida called meningocele.

This develops when membranes poke through a hole between the vertebrae, and it can lead to partial paralysis.

This month he is due to see a doctor who has said he can successfully remove the appendage - but his family are sceptical and say they would rather he kept his tail than undertake a risky operation.

But Mr Qureshi said: ‘It is for Balaji to decide. If he wants to get the tail removed, we do not mind.

‘He has trouble walking and so we are asking doctors what can be done.’

As for Arshid, he does not believe the removal of the tail will stop the crowds flocking to his house for blessings.

He said: ‘Doctors can remove my tail - but people will continue to believe in me.’

Police arrests children of 90 yr-old woman for starving her nearly to death

A 90-year-old woman was locked away and left to starve to death by her own children, police say.

Xiaoming Tsui survived a month of captivity in her bedroom by drinking water and eating a few porridge oats neighbours were able to throw in while her children were out.

When police burst in at the end of last week to free her after a tip off posted online, her first words were: 'Please, feed me, feed me.'

Her daughter and son are now facing charges of attempted murder after police accused them of 'a cold and calculating plan to get rid of someone they found expensive and tiresome to deal with'.

A police spokesman said: 'The woman fell ill and to get rid of the problem of having to care for her, her children attempted to make her die from starvation in the locked room.

'They didn't send their mother any food, telling her it was so she didn't need the bathroom, and would allow no-one in to see her.'

Neighbours in Yangjuan village in Hunan, China, who realised Mrs Xiaoming was not being given much to eat were able on several occasions to pass oatmeal up to her through an open window.

Although they did not know that she was being given nothing, it is believed that one of them was the person who posted the anonymous online message which alerted police to her plight.

'There had been friction between the old lady and her children for some time,' said the police spokesman. 

'She was becoming an increasing burden to them and so they decided to kill her by starving her to death.

'Then they planned to tell the authorities that she simply stopped eating.'

The spokesman added: 'This is not just a family dispute, but calculated murder. Obviously, the selfish children wanted their mother to die to save them trouble of taking care of her.'

Ex- Navy officer allegedly raped women he met on Christian dating site

A woman who says she was raped by a man she met on a Christian dating website, described the alleged assault in detail Wednesday, taking the witness stand to tell of how her potential suitor overpowered and assaulted her during a first date in her apartment.

The woman said she met 38-year-old Sean Banks of Del Mar on  ChristianMingle.com. The two met in person for the first time when Banks – who told K.K. his name was Rylan – came to her La Mesa apartment on Nov. 21, 2012. 

“I believed in God, scripture, going to church, reading the Bible, and I wanted someone who had those same interests and to share those things together,” K.K. said.

Prosecutor David Williams III said they were sitting on the couch, kissing, when Banks overpowered K.K. Banks then dragged her down the hallway and raped her in the bedroom, the prosecution said. 

“Suddenly, the defendant reaches over, puts his arm on her, takes his hand, jams it down the inside of her pants and digitally penetrates her vagina with his finger,” William said during his opening statement.

“She didn’t want it. She didn’t ask for it. She was terrified,” Williams said.

However, defense attorney Brian White said Banks thought the sex was consensual.

“’I thought things were progressing, but all of a sudden, she yells at the top of her lungs for me to stop, and it scared me. This woman is frightening me,’” White said on behalf of his client.

Williams said Banks left immediately and sent text messages to K.K., saying he was lost and that they’d have to meet another time. The prosecution believes he was trying to cover his tracks, making it seem like he had never been to her apartment in the first place.

“She thought the defendant meant, ‘sorry I got lost,’ as in, ‘sorry I got lost from a proper Christian path and I did what I did,’” Williams said.

During Wednesday’s opening statements, the defense and the prosecution also talked about the second alleged victim, known as “R.O.,” who claims Banks  drugged and raped her in May 2009 after meeting on Match.com.

The defense tried to discredit R.O.’s credibility.

“Despite being in what she described as a ‘complete blackout,’ she just happened to come to at the very moment that Mr. Banks was having sex with her,” White said. “At that moment, her recollection is crystal clear.”

White said R.O. became upset and threatened Banks after he stopped responding to her text messages.

“She sent him a text message that said, ‘you better get back to me. And you know what? You essentially date raped me the other night,’” White said.

R.O. is expected to testify Thursday.

Banks is charged with forcible rape, rape of an unconscious person, sex with a foreign object and burglary. If convicted, he faces 44 years to life in prison.

Prosecutors said he used a number of aliases in the online dating world, including Rarity, Rylan, Rylan Butterwood and Rylan Harbough. The defense said Rylan was a name Banks actually used in real life

Hamilton man jailed for having sex with pool raft

Edwin Tobergta, 35, was arrested in Hamilton, Ohio on Wednesday morning and charged with public indecency after a witness observed him standing naked on Route 4 in Hamilton simulating sex with a pink pool floatation device. According to the police report, the witness said he was in full view of nearby businesses and passing cars, Fox 19 reports. This is the fourth time Tobergta has been arrested for this kind of offense. 

He went to jail, but was arrested again in 2013 for having sex with the EXACT SAME RAFT, which had inexplicably not been thrown out. The 2013 offense occurred at Tobergta's own home, but he was charged with -- and pleaded guilty to -- public indecency because it happened within the view of children during the day.

It is unclear if Tobergta's most recent alleged offense took place with the same pool raft.

In 2002, Tobergta was arrested for publicly pleasuring himself with an inflatable pumpkin. That object wasn't a pool toy, though, because come on, a man needs a little variety.

Tobergta was sentenced this week to 11 months in prison for defiling the inflatable raft, according to WXIX. He committed the act in June, in front of children.

At an earlier court session, Tobergta plead guilty to public indecency.

In his newest mugshot, Tobergta is wearing a T-shirt that reads, "I'm out of my mind. Please leave a message."

Man, 27, locks girlfriend out of hotel room, rapes her 8-month-old daughter

A 27-year-old man, Julio Iturralde locked his girlfriend out of their hotel room before raping the woman’s 8-month-old daughter, police reports.

The couple were staying at a hotel in Los Lunas when the mother, 25-year-old Jasmin Davis, ran outside to get some items from the car. When she tried to re-enter the hotel room, she found the door was locked and heard her baby screaming.

After several minutes, Iturralde opened the door and Davis saw a “tremendous” amount of blood in her baby daughter’s diaper. She told police she wanted to get her baby to a hospital, but Iturralde refused to let her leave the room and he started smoking meth.

It wasn’t until the next morning, after she and Iturralde smoked meth together, that Davis took her baby to University of New Mexico Hospital. According to the complaint, Davis told hospital staff that she though her baby had been injured by a child she watched the day before.

Medical staff ended up calling law enforcement who interviewed Davis. She told them about the hotel incident and Iturralde was arrested and charged with criminal sexual penetration of a child, false imprisonment and child abuse. In an interview with deputies, Iturralde admitted to being alone with the child but denied knowing the child was injured and made no mention of raping the girl, according to the complaint. He is currently behind bars without bond.

Davis told police about the hotel and Iturralde during a follow-up interview two days after the child was hospitalized. She also admitted to police that she smoked meth with Iturralde the morning after the assault.

Investigators said witnesses at the hotel said they spoke with Davis the night the child was assaulted and she didn’t try to get them to contact law enforcement for the child, according to the complaint.

Doctors told investigators the child’s injuries caused massive blood loss.

The baby is still in the hospital where doctors are trying to reconstruct her internal organs. She is now in the custody of the Children, Youth and Families Department.

“When I first started in this career you would have a homicide or somebody that got beat up. Nothing of this nature – and nothing that goes to these extremes. Meth is probably the worst drug that I can ever think of,” said Valencia County Capt. Gary Hall.

Teen who hired a killer online didn’t know the killer was the target disguised

A woman who decided to prank her niece by setting up a fake Facebook profile was shocked when the girl asked her new-found friend to kill her aunt, New.com.au reports.

According to court documents, the aunt, whose name has not been given, wanted to play a prank on her niece Marissa Williams, 19, because she felt the teen was spending too much time on Facebook.

 Williams’ aunt created the fake profile after Williams blocked her on Facebook. The teen did not like the fact that her aunt could see her online activities, activities that included asking random men she met to come to her aunt’s house in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

To continue keeping tabs on her niece, the woman created a fake Facebook profile, pretending to be a man named Tre ‘Topdog’ Ellis, so that she could friend her and see what she was up to online, al.com reports. The court documents say that on the very first day that Williams interacted with Ellis, she gave out her phone number and address and asked the boy to come over, get drunk and have sex with her as long as he paid her $US50 phone bill.

She later told Ellis she hated her family and wanted him to kidnap her. As the conversations continued, She gave Ellis details on how to get into her aunt’s bedroom, suggesting that he kill the woman’s fiance first, then her aunt, followed by her cousin and finally the family dog, adding that while he was busy murdering the family, Williams would pack her things in his car.

At this point the aunt decided it was time to contact the police and ask for help. Deputies arrived at the home where Williams admitted to the murder plot. She also apologized and said it was all a big joke – she never intended for anyone to be killed.

Williams was arrested and charged with the solicitation of murder. She’s being held in jail on a $30,000 bond.

Tennessee man murdered woman, dismembered and ate her body - cops

A Tennessee man murdered a woman at this residence, dismembered her body and then proceeded to eat part of her corpse. Coffee County District Attorney Mickey Layne told The Associated Press on Tuesday that 37-year-old Gregory S. Hale was arrested at his home late Sunday and is charged with premeditated first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse.

A neighbor alerted police after he had a conversation with Hale which gave him reason to believe a homicide had been committed. According to the arrest warrant, the victim was beheaded and the rest of her body was dismembered. The warrant states that Hale buried the torso of the victim’s body in a burn pile at the residence. According to the warrant Hale confessed to killing the woman identified as Lisa Marie Hyder. Hale told authorities he beheaded Hyder and cut off her hands and feet and placed the body parts in plastic buckets and then buried the torso in a burn pile at the residence.

He also admitted to cannibalizing part of the victim. Her body was sent to Nashville for an autopsy, according to WGNS. 

When officers arrived at the home, Layne said they discovered human  remains on the grounds. They then questioned Hale and took him into custody.

In disturbing social media posts, Hale had joked about cannibalism and praised serial killer Richard Ramirez, the Night Stalker.

"If someone were to become a cannibal and eat a vegetarian, would the vegetarian taste like that fake soy meat?" Hale wrote on Facebook, according to WSMV.

In a tribute to Ramirez back in February, Hale wrote that he wished he could have met the infamous serial killer and rapist, who died in 2013, Huff Post reports.

WSMV also learned that Hale once worked at a meat processing plant, and that "sources who knew him say Hale would take home bones, blood and eyeballs of animals from the plant." According to the station, neighbors called Hale "sick" and a "devil worshipper."

Layne says Hale has an attorney and is being held in jail on $1.5 million bond.

Sikh who blinded daughter in-law for alleged extra-marital affair bags 10yrs in prison

A 51-year-old Indian-origin man, who blinded his daughter-in-law by stabbing her in her face in Britain, has been jailed for more than 10 years, Daily Mail reports. 

Manjit Singh Mirgind accused his son's wife Jageer Mirgind of having extra-marital sexual relations with another man, and attacked her with a knife leading to severe injuries in both the eyes, in Dec 18 last year, The Ilford Recorder reported Friday. 

Mrs Mirgind’s children, just three and six years old, watched the horrific attack at their mother's home in Kensington Gardens, Ilford, East London, and pleaded with their grandfather to stop.

The crazed attacker wrongly believed his daughter-in-law was 'sleeping with a Paki' and that she had 'ruined his family', Snaresbrook Crown Court heard.

Tragically, Mirgind misunderstood the situation when his daughter was the victim of a series of prank calls.

After punching her in the face he dragged her into the kitchen where he savagely kicked her before grabbing a knife.

The Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday sentenced Mirjind to a 10 years and eight months jail-term, half of which he will serve, with the rest on licence. 

The court heard Mirgind had been an leading member of the Sikh community and often drove young worshippers to the temple.

Mirgind, from Ilford in north-east London, was earlier charged with attempted murder, but prosecutors later accepted a guilty plea to the charge of grievous bodily harm (GBH) reported the Express 

Mirgind has denied attempting to kill the victim, who was hospitalised for three days after the incident.

The judge told Margind this was a "manic and horrific" attack motivated by a belief his daughter-in-law had been unfaithful, the report said. 

The judge said: "There is major scarring to her face, there is serious injury to her left wrist, she now has a stutter." 

In a statement read by his lawyer Edward Boateng-Addo, he said: ‘I am a hard-working family man who left his job to care for his ill mother seven years ago.

‘I was stressed out at the time and nothing can excuse what I did.

‘I was trying to protect her - I am a peaceful and honest man and I know I will not have the chance to apologise but I do look to the court to say how sorry I am.

U.S Navy veteran, 43, raped 81 yr-old woman after night of drinking- police

A 43-year-old former Connecticut state trooper, Jeffrey LaPorto, raped an 81-year-old woman at a Windsor Locks hotel after a night of drinking together, police said.

But a lawyer for Jeffrey LaPorto, who was fired from the law enforcement agency three years ago, told the Hartford Courant that any sex between the two was consensual.

"There is nothing that shows anything was happening," Attorney Donald Papcsy told the newspaper. "Up until the time they went up to the hotel room, everything was consensual.”

Prosecutors believe what happened inside the Quality Inn room, near Bradley International Airport north of Hartford, was not consensual. After the two met and drank together at the hotel’s bar, they went to the room around midnight or 12:30 a.m. Friday. Her son called cops around 2 a.m. claiming she’d been raped. The elderly woman was taken to a local hospital, where medical staff discovered “extensive internal injuries,” according to the Courant.

“This was a sickening crime and all efforts were made to apprehend Mr. LaPorto, less than 24 hours from the commission of the crime," police Chief Eric Osanitsch told the newspaper.

But Papcsy, the man’s lawyer, said the U.S. Navy veteran is innocent — one suspicious witness even listened through the door and heard nothing happening inside the hotel room.

"There's no dispute that they went into that hotel room consensually," Papcsy told the Courant.

It’s unclear why LaPorto, who is self-employed, was fired from the state police force.

He and the woman, who was from out of state, did not know each other before Thursday night, but the court issued a protective order for the woman.

LaPorto, who faces charges of first-degree sexual assault and first-degree unlawful restraint, posted $250,000 bail and was released Monday.

He’s next due in court June 23.

Woman had group sex with three boys aged between 7 and 10 years old

A 30-year old Sioux Falls woman has been charged with rape, sexual contact with a child, and sexual exploitation of a minor after her boyfriend discovered her naked in their apartment Wednesday night with at least three boys between age 7 and 10.

Sioux Falls police spokesman Sam Clemens said Anne Elizabeth Doubler's boyfriend returned home with the couple's 4-year-old son and caught her with the boys. The incident took place in their apartment in the 600 block of North Lewis Avenue.

"They walked in to the apartment and ended up seeing her completely naked," Clemens said.

The boyfriend told police that Doubler admitted to having sexual contact with the boys, Clemens said. He then called police as the other boys scattered, he said.

Police later interviewed the boys, who confirmed that they had had sexual contact with Double, Clemens said.

The boys were not related to her and lived in the surrounding apartments, police said. Two of the three victims were brothers.

Police are still working to identify all potential victims and find out how long it may have been going on.

"This is something we don't see very often," Clemens said. "When we're talking about multiple victims, especially at one time, that's unusual."

Doubler could spend the rest of her life in prison, if convicted of five counts each of first-degree rape, sexual contact with a child under 16 and sexual exploitation of a minor.

In court Thursday, Judge John Schlimgen granted the prosecution's request to hold Doubler on a $50,000 cash-only bond.

She will be allowed to have supervised contact with her son.

Woman who filmed herself having sex with 1yr-old girl bags 27yrs in jail

 Penultimate Wednesday, Laura Jean Shoulders was sentenced to 27 years behind bars after the 46-year-old pleaded guilty to making videos of herself performing sex acts on a one-year-old girl and sharing the videos on the Internet.

According to court records, Shoulders met a man in Oklahoma through a Craigslist ad in 2012. The pair exchanged messages that eventually led to Shoulders sending the man videos she recorded with her cell phone that showed her performing sex acts on a one-year-old girl she was babysitting.

In turn, the man in Oklahoma would share the videos to other pedophiles online.

Shoulders was arrested in December and would plead guilty to producing child pornography in February. Shoulders was sentenced to 27 years in prison without the possibility of parole. She got lucky, as she was initially looking at a possible 90 years behind bars.
